In other news, orangutans are not gorillas. Yeah, that's why I added the "monkeys" bit, though I know technically that's not right, either. The animals in the first scene are monkeys of some sort. Until a few days ago I thought that primates with tails are monkeys and tailless ground-dwellers are apes, but it turns out that "monkey" is almost meaningless in terms of taxonomy. There are tailless monkeys and arboreal apes (like our friend the orangutan). The best definition of "monkey" is "non-hominoid simians". But if you say that monkeys have tails and live in trees you'll be right most of the time. |
