I'm going to have to  call shenannigans on at least some of this story.

Here's the wrench they "scan:"

And here's what shows up on the computer and what eventually gets printed out:

Notice anything different about them?

I'm guessing the scan was all for show and they simply used a premade (probably in CAD) design for the actual printing.

Pretty cool otherwise.

Now get cracking on building me a Leeloo.

Nobody likes getting into a hot car. Not even the Japanese. But they found a solution! Seriously. You'll try this.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I'll sum it up for you, so you don't have to deal with the Japaneseness of it:
Roll down the driver's window. Open and close the passenger door about 5 times. Drops the temp by something like 10 degrees celcius.

There was a device years back that was basically two small vented fans that plugged into the cig lighter and you would roll up into the driver and passenger windows, one blowing air out one sucking air in.  Was supposed to constantly circulate air in the vehicle.  Supposedly kept inside temps up to 20deg F cooler.

Don't know if it ever worked worth a damn.  I haven't seen one in years so maybe that's telling.

Remote starter that auto-rolls down the windows for 3 minutes, then back up again.

You can also get the solar roof package on newer Prius cars, where the solar panel powers an electric fan in the ventilation system to keep the car cooler on sunny days.  Or a remote starter that just turns on the AC.  smile

It doesn't work well enough here in D/FW, Texas.  Interior surfaces of the car are too hot for this trick to work in under twenty minutes.

Depends on the car. My 6 cylinder cranks the A/C with no problem in under 30 seconds. And I have leather seats while living in AZ.
