I've never seen any CGI that amazing ever in my entire life. Alex Roman is a legend. For those of you that are skeptical of that being entirely CGI there is another video showing you how he created the movie on that site. It took Alex a year to create that video. |

Apparently, it's even more rampant than just what this video shows, too. i've seen some of that before...pretty interesting way of giving nods to earlier work. a lot of people are leaving comments that Disney copied those scenes because they're cheap, but i think they're forgetting that it's all hand-drawn animation...doesn't really save them much because they had to redraw every frame anyway. it's not like CG where you can just copy and paste the motions. personally, i see it as a bit of an homage to what came before... |

While it's true they had to repaint everything, they didn't have to redraw it (or at least not to the same degree as you would with fresh animation). Additionally, it saved having to film or study humans doing the same moves.
It's definitely a time/cost-saving measure.
