We adopted a dog (first one for us) from the animal shelter in June and its been really dry around since then so it been no trouble taking her out to do her business. The remnants of hurricane Issac are gonna dump some pretty constant rain on us the next couple of days, so what do you do with them when it rains for a couple of days straight??

Go out in the rain with them on the leash and have them do their business. Or better yet just tie them up out there, wait for them to bark when they're ready to come in, and go get'em.

Welcome to being a dog owner! Sometimes being a dog owner means you get wet Personally, we have a fenced off area in our yard, so we just let the dog out and she comes back in when she's done. But if we didn't have that I'd just grab an umbrella. Dogs don't care too much about water unless it's coming down in sheets.

We got our dog a couple of years ago from a family and she hates baths but she will go out in the rain like its nothing unless there is thunder then she will stay inside and shake like crazy.

Dogs are funny that way, mine takes to lakes and ponds like a fish. Doesnt mind the rain either, unless it a torrential downpour. But just try coaxing him into the porcelain deathtrap known as a bathtub. He wants nothing to do with a bath.

Mine will not go out in the rain to take care of her business. At all. But she will go running with me in the rain. I think she's half retarded.

yeah, looks like I get to deal with the same thing the next few days from the same remnants. Luckily there is a tree that covers a good portion of the area in the back yard so there may be some partial cover.

I echo the bravo for adopting. I've had dogs that could care less about the water and dogs who hate it. If they gotta go, they will go in my experience. Might take some time, maybe a fair amount of time, but they will go. Then of course you are soaked with a wet/ muddy dog...

The dog will go, but they will make you pay by waiting until they get back inside to shake off all that water.
