I'll take WTF for $200 please, Alex:

Yes. They're doing a Pac-Man film.

"They" being Crystal Sky Pictures, which has just signed a five picture deal worth USD 200 million with Grosvenor Park.

According to Variety, the deal also covers the previously announced Castlevania film, which is being directed by Sylvain White.

There's no word on who's directing the Pac-Man film, or who will star in it, or when it's coming out, or how on earth anyone could think making a Pac-Man film is a good idea in any way at all.

But someone at Crystal Sky must do - they first snapped up the rights from Namco more than five years ago. Funny how they haven't gotten around to making it yet.

I mean, seriously folks...why? Or more importantly - HOW?

LMAO!

How in the world do you make a live action Pac-Man film? I remember the original artwork on the side of actual Pac-Man arcade machines back in the 80s. You know, the one that tries to depict Pac-Man as human. And I always thought--Pac-Man looks weird and creepy.

Someone posted a concept Pac-Man movie on here or OO some time ago.  It's probably on youtube.  Can't remember the plot exactly, but I think a guy winds up getting some kind of powers and his suit involves a yellow motorcycle helmet.  He gets chased by ghosts, etc.  It was turned into sci-fi action.

edit: here

If you're going to post a live-action Pac-Man video from youtube, you've got to post this one from the Go! Team that features a chase through New York City.  I love that video.

Did anyone here have the Pacman board game? It was super cool - it came with white marbles that you placed on the gameboard, and the Pac-man playing piece could actually "eat" them as you moved it around the board. I wish I still had it.

I think I have that either in my basement or the basement of my parents' house.  The box is all trashed, so I have no idea how the components are in there.

YES!  The one with upside-down U-shaped metal brackets that would hold the "fruit" magnets that your rolly Pac-

Wait, that's not the one you're talking about.

I had and loved this one:

You tilt the board around to make Pac-Man and two ghosts slide around the maze on bearings.

I loved how the people of New York pay just about NO attention to the people running around. I guess it's just another day in NYC for them. biggrin
