Thanks go out to rrmorton for organizing this list. smile Nothing really surprising here, but this is another year when I have zero interest in the majority of the nominees. Crash strikes me as a shamelessly manipulative pile of trash that for some reason critics LOVED!!11!! Ditto Brokeback Mountain which my sister hated and she and I have a lot of the same tastes. Watching the trailers for it reminds me of why I hate movies like that in the first place - two hours of people looking at one another to convey emotions all set against a beautiful landscape? That's called "fucking boring" people. I've seen that way too many times before, and after watching Legends of the Fall, Titanic, The Thin Red Line, and A River Runs Through It, I've had it with nature&relationship-obsessed film makers.

But that's just me. smile

Brokeback Mountain not up for Animated Short?!!?!?

The industry is biased!!!

I gotta ask any of you who have seen it, was it a good movie or is this just Hollywood hype overcompensating for some sort need to award a certain types of movies (as usual)?

If it wasn't 2 guys would anyone have cared?

Devil, I think it wouldn't have been made if it wasn't about 2 guys.
And while it was good, I really didn't think it was more than that. To me, the marvel seems to be more than everyone involved is straight while the characters were gay. Wow.

I am so glad Crash is getting all of these nominations.  That movie is impossibly good- and profound.

Well, I won't watch if The Ringer wasn't nominated for Best Picture.

Amy Adams should win supporting role for Junebug.  I thought that movie as a whole was a fun, quirky movie and she did an excellent job in it.

I kind of wish that Munich had more nominations.  I really enjoyed that movie.
