I stand corrected. A 2-month rollback seems trivial to me but I don't play any forum games or visit the trading forums.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure the current WW game would notice a 2 month rollback.  We might lose what - 5 or 6 posts?

Strange but the link I use to the forums is still 404 (http://www.octopusoverlords.com/forum/index.php). If I get rid of index.php the new notice appears, same thing with using the straight domain. Thought I'd let you know in case anyone else used the same shortcut. Maybe update the /index.php to just redirect to the new notice as well.

P.S. This life raft thread is getting crowded and stinky. Hepcat, was that you?

I am running low on shotgun shells and peanut butter.

But I hear dbt has some foxes in the attic and they make for good eating.

Unless "foxes in the attic" is another one of dbt's homespun expressions.

Note to self: Ask hepcat if you can borrow his "Carrot Top's Greatest Hits" dvd.

FYI I broke the RAID mirror on the new server to adjust some partition sizes so the notice is offline.. I'm about to go have some fun tonight with my wife, so tomorrow our regularly scheduled program of no information should resume.

Well the assholes at VolumeDrive can't find my server, so that's that.  I'm already recovering the database from the 21st (then have to apply the incrementals that I had after that).  The DB recovery is going to take a long time to insert the rows; but I am pretty sure that the root partition has enough space to do it now.

*sigh* Sorry folks, wished we could have got the data back right up to near the outage.

ETA for recovery will be sometime this coming week, Monday/Tuesday ideally with my schedule.

Just a thought, now that the madness has died down a bit, have you double-checked with Burstnet to see if they did retain the server after all?  A long shot, but maybe worth it if it would save you some effort on the restoration.  I cannot imagine VD will stay in business much longer, if they even still are and not just trying to milk the last drops of cash from their customers.  What rubbish.

Thanks for all your efforts, FP.  Hope you are still enjoying the long weekend -- please don't ruin yours for our sake.  An extra few days won't kill anybody.

Yup I PMed the guys at Burst again asking if there's anything they could do/find, and that I would pay a months worth of fees to get at the data. Nothing back yet, so for now I'm going with the worst case (who knows, VD might be pissed off with how vocal I've been since Page 1 of the WHT thread and just telling me to beat it) scenario and recovering with what I have.  It takes a LONG time to insert all these posts back into the DB (I'm guessing it will be around 10+ hours, but the process is running in the background w/ Screen so I'm not concerned).
