Welcome to "Reasons why KS doesn't use VMWare 101". Easy to restore, but stability...eh...proof is in the ink in this case. QT3 is having problems with their new host as well. Apparently it's a virtual server setup with a shared CPU and memory limits. When the load gets too high or one of the other virtual servers using the CPU gets busy, it slows way down. I guess you get what you pay for at $50 a month to run a site that averages about 750 people at a time on an average night. |

if you want to crash OO, simply delete a post immediately after making it. it brings OO down for a short while. i've tested it twice now. i actually switched pages after creating a new reply and then went back and deleted it the second time, but the results were the same.

I most certainly did not intend for my post to be seen as a "how to"" manual on crashing OO. I was simply making an observation here that hopefully someone from OO would take note of and perhaps address. Contacting the admins for OO was not an option at the time as I couldn't get into OO (obviously...hence my post). By the time it did come back I had moved on to something else and forgot to contact them. In any case, it's not like i'm the first person to post a "hey i found a problem with the site" message in this thread or at OO on the meta board.  |
