Man, that WHT thread is a mess.  Hopefully VolumeDrive gets our server back up tomorrow, but even if they do, this level of unforced downtime is beyond ridiculous.

Crap, now I feel totally bad. All this going on and it hasn't dawned on me to thank Obama a single time. What a selfish bastard I am.

No thanks Obama!

Just so you guys know I solved the problem of replacing my 2009 g37 by trading but in on a very low mileage 2012 g37...
I was actually going to post that you should buy a used g37, but I couldn't because the world exploded.

Of course, I was joking...  slywink

There is a believe about a 50/50 chance that volumedrive will get things back online at least for a short while. I am monitoring the IP and the moment it comes up we will image the box and decide how to move forward. If it doesn't come back up by monday will procede with plans to restore the last backup to a new server somewhere.

The fact that Volumedrive has made a post on twitter gives me some hope that they haven't skipped out.....yet.

The surprising things is this is just another day stuff over there. The hosting business is nothing BUT drama just waiting to be released. One of the big reasons I decided to back away from it.

I would rather deal with the CEO of a multi-million dollar corp that has had theri ENTIRE network down for a day because of me than fifty $50 a month web customers that I have had down for half a day. Resellers are the worst, pretty much nerdy used car salesman. You can count on half of them to try and stiff you. But if you search amonst the chaff there are some really good ones.

Things are about to get even better. Just got a post in there from a New User with the name JoshVD (Josh being the owner of VolumeDrive).

He already has an account there, but I noticed he hadn't posted in a couple months. Maybe he doesn't remember his password?

Well you are in luck because I have drama for you tonight.

Post from the BurstNET CEO.

Hilarious.
So you deny owing BurstNET a boatload of money then?
How is it extortion if we are trying to collect what is owed to us?
Better look up the definition of extortion here before you post such lies.

You are a scumbag, and you know it.
You can go burn in hell for your actions.
You'll get what is coming to you, I assure you that.

That is the page that he shows back up on.

Been reading it all day it has kept me entertained all day. It made me feel better about the 12 hour outage we had with a host who had a corrupted controller on the storage array.

Hell the little one is only about 7 weeks old now. Between work, judo, him, the wife, and the other little one I don't have time for much of anything. I'll be watching this tonight since I'm staying up with him so mom can have a night off.

I just hope he actually gets the damn server up Saturday night so I can quickly get a good copy.

I just don't have a good feeling about this Josh guy especially. I kind f empathize with the other guy for reasons you would probably understand better than most.

I doubt there will be any "winners" either way.

Yup I remember those days. Getting the server back online long enough to get a backup and running for the hills has been my best case scenario hope this whole time. I think the only people who win will be the lawyers since they get paid in advance.

So now people are questioning why JoshVD isn't using his official account, which others happen to have already seen log into the site today. He has said Burst is holding his personal server hostage, which would have his mail on it. I'm think by page 50 there we'll find out who is the father of Amber's baby and that BurstNet is really JoshVD's long lost twin.  ninja2

Just got back from work (golf course with some business associates that I had to be at) and dinner, pissed there isn't any progress on vd recovery. Rip and I watching for any sign of life on the site, the minute (if) it's online I'm grabbing the database and HTML directory (rip please do the same, vsftpd needs to be manually started). The minute I've got a known "good" backup, I'm reversing the last months charges via my credit card and going elsewhere. It's a fucking gongshow at burst and vd.

I've got a busy weekend, but should be around tomorrow evening. Rip has my cellphone too, so if it comes up we can be in contact. I'm still really pissed off that spider oak shit the bed 30 days ago after running for 2 years error free. Murphy is a dick.
