Seriously, enough of the forum bashing

Quoted for truth.  I'm sick and tired of defending the IGN forums, we're people too you know, even if you aren't cool enough to understand our lingo.

We can only hope.   icon_lol

I was wondering who would be first to post this, you, LE, or Unbreakable. icon_biggrin

Heh.  It must be painful for some at OO to see that OO-Banned folk seem to do well here, even thrive.  That alone says quite a lot about GT and the community.   thumbsup

Amazing what getting away from a couple of jerks can do huh?

This place is like a breath of fresh air.

I may regret asking... but who are the "jerks"?

I'm not gonna go down that road and name names, this isn't the place to shit on people at other forums, but there were two people at OO that pretty much baited me for their own kicks, and as such, I retaliated verbally one too many times, and got banned. It's a long story not worthy of repeating, but needless to say, even though I may disagree with a few people here from time to time, this place is a lot more fun to visit and the people here a lot nicer to be around.

I still miss not talking to a lot of my friends there and I would love to still have that opportunity, but this place is great and I appreciate being here.

I think everyone can safely assume that most people banned from there were banned for arguing with the exact same set of people.  OO exists only because what was allowed over at GG was not going to happen over here.

Sigh.

I think we need to institute a Carlin-esque Nine Words You Can't Say at GT:

1. OO
2. Octopus
3. Overlords
4. Other Forum
5. Drama (when used as a reference to 1-4)
6. Preschool (when used as a reference to 1-5)
7. That-stupid-forum-that-drove-us-all-mad-with-the-needless-drama-and-relentless-circular-conversations-about-the-same-crap-that-we-were-discussing-back-in-2000.
8. Any food related word that could be extrapolated to mean the word that is synonymous with one of several regular occasions or times for eating food

The bitterness is quite amusing.

1) It's pretty damn hard to get banned from a forum, maybe look inward?
2) There are just as much crabby people, drama, and childish behavior here as OO, BC, and Qt3. Hell it was drama because someone posted a thread of half naked women.

I don't think you get drama if yout hink there's drama here.  If you're interested in drama, consult your local library or www.octopusoverlords.com.

To be fair, we really haven't had even a small amount of drama in 5-6 months. Even I'm a bit surprised at how calm it's all been.

That said, I won't argue that we've had our fair share in the past, but give us some credit for the past little while smile.

Also, to clear up a point made by unbreakable earlier, OO's creation had nothing to do with GT's policies at all. It was going to go up regardless of what GT did. GT being so incredibly accomidating during the switchover was certainly a huge bonus, however, and they have our eternal gratitude for that. We also have a very good working relationship with GT to this day (though we've had our squabbles) and I see that continuing for the forseeable future smile.

Wait, wait. Are you telling me the internet didn't collapse in on itself when you banned U2K finally? Noooo!!

Surprisingly, no. But I do blame it for the Steelers remarkably poor play this season, but the fact that it lead to the Democrats re-taking control of Congress kinda evens things out.

Which shows you only read OO during the BC split crap and the U2K thing (both of which were pretty damn amusing). The drama hasn't been there for months.

One thing OO has going for it over all the other boards I read, it's very active.
