If there is a hockey game on I just go to versus and watch it.  I literally *never* watch ESPN.

I wish I could but since I have DirecTV, I do not get Versus.  I do have ESPN.

Predictions for the Russia-Canada game?  No matter what happens, I just cannot see Canada winning gold.  If they do make it to the finals they are going to be well worn out.

Team Canada can't beat Russia if they played the way they did in last nights game. Despite the big one-sided score, they were guilty of far too many neutral and defencive zone give aways. If they allow that many turnovers against the Russians their toast. As to be being too tired, I don't think last nights game sucked much from their tanks. As well, if Bobby Lu is to be their go to goalie -can't see how he won't be- he's much better on a constant schedule and often poor in lay over situations. Team Canada's play is far too inconsistent for me to be comfortable predicting the outcome of the next game. That said, in the few games the Canucks have played against the Cap's, Bobby Lu has had Ovi's number. It's going to be an interesting game. slywink

BTW: The really big game is tomorrow - Team Canada women Vs Team USA women in the semi-final!

I'm pulling for Canada vs Russia.

Marty is on the bench. Kovalchuck is on the ice.

I want them both off the ice.

Go Canada!

Team Canada women Vs Team USA women in the semi-final!

I went to High School with Jayna Hefford (on the Canadian womens' team). I was actually surprised she was still playing -- even though she's only 31 or 32. I'd like to see her win gold on her home turf. Really looking forward to watching this game.

We may have won, but I don't have high hopes for making the final.  They just aren't playing well as a team, that game should have been an even bigger blowout, the Germans were all but absent.

I don't even know if I can watch the game tonight, but I'm hoping for Bobby-Lu to stand on his head and win one for us.

I don't get the scheduling. US and Canada games are in the middle of the day when no one can watch them, and the 2 games with all European games are during a time when their countries are sleeping. Wouldn't have made more sense to switch those?

They play for Gold Thursday. I'm looking forward to it.

But the Canada/Russia game tonight should be a good one. I'm hoping to squeak by the Russians, I think it will be very close tonight.

Playing to the East Coast audience - The US game is at 3pm EST, and the Canada game is 730pm EST. Prime hockey time!

Just saw this about the US game (I'm guessing it works for places other than the Bay Area):

The USA hockey game is still being shown at 3 pm tape delayed on TV, but NBC just announced it will offer a free, online video streaming of the game at noon, go to nbcbayarea.com and search for Olympics.

I don't know, the final goal in last nights game was pretty spectacular. Of course if Bobby Lu had managed to make the save on the 2nd shot that would have been truly, uber spectacular. smile thumbsup

No worries about tonight. Team Canada always seems to not really try until all the marbles on on the line. It happened in 2002 (opening loss to Sweden, went 1-1-1 in the round robin). They dominated the US on Sunday but Miller stole one. I'm ok with that.

Tonight's game won't even be close. The Russian defense isn't very good and the team isn't very physical so they'll get pushed around by the Canadian forecheck. 4-1 win, no sweat.

US will beat the Swiss no problem as well which will get our hopes up for a Canada-US final rematch!

I hope you are right JayDee. I'd love to see a US/Canada final. Even though I am American I am rooting for the Canadians to win it. It means everything to Canada. And I'd like to see them win it on their home ice.

Ok, so Ovechkin can hit. Who else? Maybe Malkin?

That's ok, because I'm sure Pronger, Weber, Nash, Iginla, and Getzlaf all have something to say to him tonight.

I know you're joking around, but Canada will not get pushed around by Russia.

I never had a lot of worry that the US was going to win, but it did seem that the Swiss might tie it and send it to OT...

They just weren't getting good pucks on Miller... Hiller and a couple lucky breaks kept it that close.

They really need to clear some space so Bobby can see those pucks though.
