So, at 3:30 am this morning I wake up when the light turns on in the bathroom a couple of minutes later.....by itself. The switch had been flipped and there's no one around. paranoid

Did you hear the toilet seat go down too?  Probably the Ghost of Able Mabel-she can't make it through the night without peeing.

You know who it was. It was it. Next time, make sure to have a video camera pointed at the window.

It's most likely that you left it on and were so tired you fell asleep with it on without noticing it.

Then, once your body got done with the first phase of sleep, in which the fundamental daily repairs are done, the presence of light being on was enough to wake you.

I've fallen asleep after working long hours, only to wake up at 3am to find I had left my room lights on, giving me that nasty sleep that tires me out more than it helps.

That, or stalker goat found me by reading GT on your computer... while you sleep.  He just needed that light on so he could see his way out of your room.

Sometimes the lightswitch can be sitting in between off and on and then flip the rest of the way later.

I think that's most ikely what happened. The light came on in the middle of the night and woke me up immediately as it will whenever my wife turns it on. So it wasn't left on for awhile first. I think it's just a crappy light switch but it was weird.

There are logical reason for everything that we perceive as going bump at night.
You sir was tired and went sleep with the bathroom light on and it just so happen when the power came back on after that short power outage, you taught something flipped the switch and turned your lights on.
