I love dogs as much as the next guy... and probably even more.  But WTF is up with all the poodle mixes?

I would say that close to half the puppies I see people walking around with are some flavor of poodle mix.  Schnauzer/poodle.  Shitzu/poodle.  Yorkie/poodle.  I'm surprised I haven't seen Great Dane/poodle (yikes!).

Anyone else notice this?

It's pretty simple, really. Poodles are sluts.

They do it because Poodles don't shed. So they try to get that gene as the dominant gene. I hate that people create these "designer" breeds. It's irresponsible pet breeding, ownership, is potentially harmful to the animals,  and pretty much disregards why there are breeds in the first place all for the all mighty dollar

I'm not sure, I think it's because of people who like poodles, but want some variety.  And don't want to be seen walking around with poodles.

Personally, I'm not a fan.  Don't get me wrong, I like poodles- I like all dogs.  But I kind of prefer lots of other breeds.  One thing I don't like is how mixes curl the hair up, and give a whitish-orange tint to the hair.

I completely agree with the idea that this is too much of a 'designer' breed, but I think of it more as a 'fashionable' breed.

Ah well, if people are happy with their dogs, more power to them.  All dogs go to heaven  icon_biggrin
