So after returning from PAX this year and dealing with blistered feet while walking around Seattle, I found that the right side of my two smallest toes, on my right foot, are completely numb.

I still have full movement, just no feeling on the right side near the skin. I'm afraid that all the pressure and damage from blisters and tight foot padding has permanently damaged the nerves there. I had to stuff in extra padding on the last days there to walk around, but that made my shoes tight on my toes.

The usual searches turns up way too many results, just wondering if anyone has heard or experienced this and got better. Definitely seeing a doctor about this since it's almost a week. And if you guys go to a con, wear proper shoes.

First off, I'm no doctor.  And I don't even play one on TV.

Having said that, I would not suspect neuropathy since that takes a long time to develop and wouldn't really be something that just crops up.

If you are really concerned and don't have a regular doctor, going to an Urgent Care center is a good alternative to at least get seen in a timely manner.  At the very least they could refer you to a specialist and don't cost too much if you lack insurance.

Numbness in extremities can be caused by a large number of things - My advice is to seek a doctor as soon as possible, as I've seen both both bad things from it, and non-issuesa as well. And yeah, don't search the net because, and I'm not a doctor, but I know of at least 3 different reasons this happens, and there are probably tons more, none of which are pleasant to read about it.

Could be bad circulation.

Are you a runner? Could be a pinched nerve or bruise.

Yeah, I'd go with bad shoes to start, but see a doctor, if not a podiatrist.  Persistent numbness is not something to mess around with.

Did your numbness ever to away, Turtle?  Or were you able to see anybody for it to find out what the problem was/is?

I seem to regaining feeling slowly in the area, but definitely can't feel anything directly on the skin, but can definitely feel stuff a ways under the skin. It may be that I'm not regaining feeling in the worst areas, but healing in the areas around it.

Walking around and massaging the area sometimes causes a definite spike in pain that signals some nerve issue, it happens right along where the fifth phelange meets the 5th metatarsal (small toe "knuckle"), which also happens to be where I had the most pressure and pain while at the convention. It's the same kind of feeling if you bang your ulnar nerve (funny bone) really sharply.

I'll be seeing a doctor soon, in a day or so.

If I don't remeber to take a suppliment or eat a banana on a regular basis (at least one of those a week) over a period of time, my feet and ankles will feel like they've gone cold or numb.  You might try a multivitamin. smile
