It's pretty good even though I hate those teams. Can't wait to be flooded with it next year when Boston and Chicago are on it...

Hey gellar, I hear your new head coach is going to be Darryl Sutter.
I am OK with that. I always thought he was a decent coach. I just can't understand why anyone was idiotic enough to make him GM. Good luck with that. Hope the Kings like their new life in the military.

Big win by the Canucks last night over their league and division leading rivals the Wild. Canucks either had to beat them and close the gap to 3 or loose and face an abysmal 7 win lead. Since the Canucks just returned from a 5 game eastern road trip I thought they might be able to nudge out a win, but I was quite honeslty shocked to see them blank them 4-zip. Some very pretty assists by the Sedins in the game - enough angles in those that they could be a good topic of discussion for a geometry class.

Anyone else watch Wings/Preds last week? Bummer of a loss for the wings, but holy shit, that's the best hockey game I've seen all year. Two really good teams going full steam - it was like watching the playoffs.

I missed that one Kratz, but I'm not surprised it was a good game - Preds are a good team this year. I gotta say I'm really looking forward to tomorrows Wings-Canucks game.

Adam Oates should be dragged into the parking lot and used as a speed bump for everyone leaving the arena!!!! If I read it right. The Devils have allowed 10 goals while on the PP and 9 goals on the PK!!

Hey its suitcase Oates - I'm sure just as in his playing days another team will take him off the Devil's hands and put him behind their bench. New Poll: how many different benches will Oates stand behind before his coaching days are over: 10 20 30 30 in the NHL, 30 in the AHL

They already have the worst power play in the league. I am stunned they are in the top 10 overall.

Great game by the Nucks last night.. looking real nice. Hockey fans are the best - Canucks aren't tough enough, yet when Kesler objects to a hit.. he's the bad guy. Not sure they can beat the Bruins this year.. they are just scary.. but it's going to be another great final.

0-4 on the power play. Sure-handed goalie, most of the time, giving the puck away for an empty netter. Half the players on the ice crashing into their own goalie which allows the puck to cross the goal line when it would have been stopped by the goalie had the players not crashed into him.
All of that = road loss.
The Blues are currently on track for a sum total of 34 PPGs - and that is after the slight improvement in the power play since Hitchcock arrived. Tied for 2nd fewest in a season since 97-98. The Devils met that same bar last season. That has to change soon.

Its too early for me to feel comfortable even predicting the Canucks winning their division . But hey, having watched them for decades I'm admittedly pesimistic. It does seem like they've finaly gotten back to last seasons pace. That was one heckuva game last night. Watching them go up against the Wings is always a thrill. Best part for me is finally getting to watch Cody Hodgson game in and out, who's proving he's meant to play at this level.

How about... Puck Daddy’s [list/videos of] 10 worst hockey bloopers of 2011http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Puck-Daddy-8217-s-10-worst-hockey-bloopers-of-2?urn=nhl-wp20506With the Caps, we finally have Ovi, Backstrom and Semin score in the same game for the first time in like a year and a half. I hope it becomes a trend and not such an aberration. ================ Oh and this is probably from an AHL game or something, but it's $50,000 Ford pickup truck priceless. 59 Year Old Woman Scores "Hole In One" Hockey Trick Shot.http://videosift.com/video/59-Year-Old-Woman-Scores-Hole-In-One-Hockey-Trick-Shot*The Capitals used to have this kind of drawing all the time between periods, and I don't think I ever saw anyone hit the board in the net, much less the puck-sized hole. The team ran out on the ice to congratulate her.

Another shorthanded goal.
While I love having him on the team and wouldn't trade him, but GOOD GOD, when Kovy makes a mistake it usually ends up I the Devils net. 2 tonight.

Canucks - Sharks game tonight was an awesome game yet again. It took until overtime to decide it in favor of the Canucks, but either team could have won it in regulation. If the realignment goes through I'm looking forward to seeing more of this.

Jaroslav Halak could not stop a 100-year old Grandma in her walker after hip surgery replacement in a shootout. This act is getting old.
The Blues might as well have Ty Conklin in goal when it comes to shootouts.

Not that they deserve an excuse, but it was the Canucks 5th game in 8 nights. They certainly didn't seem to be firing on all cylinders - almost looked like they did at the begining of the season when they were losing often. I think the coaching staff will be happy to have gotten a single point out of that game. I'm hoping this isn't a trend - they play the Wild in 2 nights, who have a habit of occasionally beating them big time.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2011/12/red_wings_in_talks_with_nhl_to.htmlOld article, but Detroit should get to host one of the next two WC's. Question is, do they do it in Comerica Park in Detroit or go for the big #'s at the Big House? Also, who do they play?

HBO must be unhappy with this. Detroit (while a very good hockey team) is just not an interesting group of people, from what I can tell. That being said, they obviously deserve to host a Winter Classic if you ignore the HBO aspect. I think the obvious opponent is Chicago. St. Louis may also be a good call if they continue on their upward trajectory. Another interesting choice is Colorado. They can play the old school animosity angle.

Sad to see the Canadian juniors lose today. They were two cm away from completing a comeback for the ages. Russians dealt with it with typical Russian sportsmanship: “We win. Russia wins. Russia better than Canada,” Yakupov boasted in broken English after it was over. “See you next time.” Nice try boys-you showed a lot of heart.

The goaltending was average at best, but think of it lots of our players are already in the NHL! I thought the Russians looked like a bunch of assholes, all the showboating/dirty play. The refs were terrible, but in the end Canada didn't really play their game until it was too late.

Original 6 team + upward tracking (somewhat) + guaranteed MASSIVE crowd. Put it in the Big House and I bet Leaf fans will ensure the place is sold out. Their fans are bonkers.

It's not like a bunch of new york fans bothered to travel that tiny distance to philly, but that didn't stop the nhl from scheduling that one. St louis at least would draw a hell of a lot better tv rating in st louis than the new yorkers generated in NY.
