Cindey vs the Blues 6 GP, 0 G, 4 A, -2, 10 PIM, 17 shots, average ice time went down from 21:17 since he only played 18:41. 6 PIM will do that. He has not scored goals against only three other teams in the league - Chicago (2 GP), Edmonton (4 GP), and San Jose (4 GP). Being a bunch of turtling, whining at the refs, bitches did not help them this evening. Watching the game on DVR... Crosby blatantly interferes with Elliott on the Penguins first goal.... no call. I guess the "it is not open season on goalies" thing does not apply to Crosby. While he only skated into Elliott's stick - it is still interference. Not calling it means players will push that envelope until penalties are called. Just because it's Cindey, doesn't make it a non-penalty. His ice time went down because this is only his second game after being out for 320 days with a concussion. Bylsma stated before the game that his goal was to hold Crosby to roughly 18 minutes of ice time.

That time thing clearly didn't matter since he still got 18 minutes with his 6 PIM.
Still love him getting zero points, in spite if the hype.

I'm starting to think that the Leafs might actually be for real this year. Oh and I've noticed a ton of mustaches going on. Is this a Movember thing? I have no idea what that is but I just did a search for NHL mustaches and that popped up. I haven't seen this many mustaches on players since the 70s!

Do you have Devil and me on ignore? Hey guys, did you hear? My Caps have a new coach? Wash. Post is carrying it live, though I guess it might already be over at this point: http://www.washingtonpost.com/live/video-1?hpid=z2They have something of a "live blog" from the presser here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capitals-insider/post/live-blog-mcphees-news-conference-on-firing-bruce-boudreau-hiring-dale-hunter/2011/11/28/gIQArqy24N_blog.html#pagebreakWhile I think it's risky to hire someone with zero NHL or AHL coaching experience, many AHLers with no NHL experience have done fine. While I would've rather they'd hired someone like him in the off-season to give him a chance to install his system, pick his own coaching staff (they're keeping Dean Evason and Bob Woods as assistants) etc., mid-season coaching changes do often inject a lot of zip for at least that season. I know at least D John Carlson played for Hunter with the London Knights, and I think young C Cody Eakin may have played for him a bit there too. I look at BB as "Brian Murray II" -- he instilled a winning tradition and a lot of at least regular season excitement (and playoffs if we played the Rangers ) to what was a moribund franchise. That's largely what the more defense-oriented Murray did in the 1980s too. But it was his brother Terry as a mid-season change that finally got us over the playoff hump and at least into the conference finals in 1990.

This is KILLING ME! My college buddy Jim (his parents have season Caps tickets) was offering me a ticket to the game tomorrow when Hunter makes his coaching debut. But it's production night at work, and we're behind the 8-ball because of the holidays. Sigh. Hopefully they'll lose 10-0 so I don't feel bad I wasn't there.

Its great being a Canucks fan these days, you get to watch Cory Schneider stand on his head in net while Luongo keeps a spot on the bench warm. 6th straight start for the Schneid tonight and his 5th straight win, 2 of which were back-to-back shutouts. Tonight it was 47 saves against 48 shots. Canucks Management, Coach V, Luongo and most of the local Sports media keep saying its not a goalie controversy - BEEEEYUUULLSHIT!

It shouldn't be a controversy-Luongo has let down the Canucks so many times it's ridiculous! Trade him to the other conference and get another piece of the puzzle!

Trade him to the other conference and get another piece of the puzzle! Not possible, for a number of reasons, until a few more year have lapsed on his contract. And yeah, its a controversy when you look at the difference between their 2 salaries. Perhaps what's most controversial, is that with Schneider becoming a restricted free agent at season end, there's no way in Hell the Canucks will have a chance to keep him.

Those are pretty sweet... I just can't think of a scenario in which I'd use them, unfortunately. Perhaps what's most controversial, is that with Schneider becoming a restricted free agent at season end, there's no way in Hell the Canucks will have a chance to keep him.
Yeah that's the real issue... if Schneider looks like The Guy, you've gotta find a way to move LALONGO to make room for him salary wise.

Blues 8-1-2 under Hitchock. 1 point from 1st in the West. 2 points from the overall league lead. Which isn't saying that much considering 1st to 11th in either conference is separated by only 5 or 6 points.

Wings need a better backup... I doubt the Wings will have the cap space to afford him. The trade pros are saying that with 1 more run like this and failing any terrible performances, Schneider's price tag is likely going to be in the $4.25 - $5 million range. Remember, it was both he and Luongo that won the GAA trophy last year, and Schneid previously won the Goaltender of the year award for the AHL. Save for an unforseen miracle, there's no way in Hell he's a Canuck next year and its just as unlikely he'll be a backup for any of the top 16 teams.

Not even a year!
Oates needs to be left behind in Colorado. it's so bad that I worry about them being able to kill their own power plays.
Do NOT want Sutter back, but maybe time to think about moving Zach. They can lose without him just as well. I'll wait for Zajac to come back for a few games before I completely give up.

Wings on Vs, then NHL-N, then playing Colorado, then Vs again means there are 4 games in a row that I'm blacked out on for GCL.
Screw that mess.

Why is the first half of the season so tough for NJ. Tough?!? They are miles ahead of last year! Maybe because they have a new coach to start (and sometimes finish) every season! I really think they need to abandon the defensive system and go all-out 80's Oilers. They have some decent skill up front and ZERO skill on the back end. Instead of preaching defensive responsibility for the forwards, why not unleash everyone to try and score 7 goals a game? These are the defensemen on the 2000 roster: Stevens Niedermayer Rafalski Daneyko Commodore White Sutton O'Donnell Mitchell That might be the best 8 EVER! Other than Larsson, nobody on the current team would be able to lace up. That was 10 years ago, it worked well, but time to change!

No, I don't get any channels, period... which is why I have GCL. We went TV free this summer, and just have Netflix/Hulu/GCL and a Blu-Ray player that lets me stream them all to the TV. It generally is much better for us, and cheaper. This week being an exception to 'better'.

Look like the NHL will have a radically different look next season: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=382065Four conferences, two with 8 teams, two with 7. I'm really digging that expanded Atlantic division with Washington in there now. The northeast group gets Florida and Tampa. Wooptie doo. I also like how the first two rounds of the playoffs will always be inter-division/conference now. There will be some great rivalries.

So...my Pens played the Bruins last night...and damn are the bruins impressive. Pens threw about everything they could at Thomas to no avail. Hopefully the next time they play, the Pens won't be without 3 of their starting D...not that I think it would have changed the outcome last night.
