ottowa started the year absolutely atrocious....

They went like 28-7-7 (or something rather close) the second half of the year, and have more or less been the team we expected them to be at the beginning of the year.  Thier defence is rock solid and while Emery is no Roy, he's still pretty good, he's taken em quite far into the playoffs.  If there is anyone in the east that worries me... it's Ottowa.  Not Jersey and not the Rangers (Go figure).

The Senators are the Atlanta Braves of Hockey.

Until they win, I refuse to believe they will. (I know Atlanta won once)

Doesn't matter who comes out of the East, that team will skate around with The Cup.

The Mets won again last night!  9-2 over irritating Dontrelle and the Marlins.  24 double plays in 13 games! LETS GO METS!

Yep!  If it were the New York Smurfs the goal would have counted and the game would have been tied (because the league loves the NY Smurfs and their mass market appeal).  I can't blame DP for taking out his frustration on his goalie stick.  Bad call by the refs.  The game should have been 3-3 at that point.  It might have made all the difference in the remainder of the game and the series.

So pushing the goalie into the net's a goalthese days?  If so Were running the goalie every time claiming he was in.  Then there was the pesky whistle being blown before ti went over.

But it's nice to hear someone else complain about a no goal.

Yuck - Tampa in 5.

One team's first line is dominating, the other's hasn't shown up.

Hey pr0ner, when's Iggy's contract up? He'd fit in well on the Devils first line this playoffs.

Marty ain't helping this year either.... crybaby

After next season.

Why, do you want him for that awesome goal he scored in game 3?   icon_twisted

Yeah pr0n -

I mention Iggy and the E-G-G line not producing then Iggy scores and Gomez wins one in OT, on essentially the same goal from opposite sides of the ice!

Maybe they aren't dead after all......

Wow.  What a complete bullshit call and of course it leads to a Calgary goal.  Even the CBC announcers thought it was bogus.  GG refs  thumbsdown

Ugh! Game in one word: penalties.  Detroit's power play was absolutely pathetic.  There's really no other way to describe it.  And yet again Calgary capitalizes on stupid Detroit penalties or in the case of the first goal, a silver platter handed out by the refs.

Yeah I was listening to it on the radio here. Terrible. Although I did call it for my friend with Flames in 6 so I'm ahead of him now.

Not that I am thinking that is a good thing however...

Bogus, yes, but maybe if Hasek hadn't taken an ugly dive during the regular season against the Flames (and then got called out for it by his coach) like the same announcers had said, it wouldn't have been called, and might even have gone the other way.  Hasek got himself in that situation by being an idiot.

Oh, and GO FLAMES GO!

FUCK

Ouch.

No kidding. I'm a Dallas fan, but even I can sympathize with losing on such a bone-headed and self-inflicted penalty...

But talk about a goal-tending showcase. Sure, there've been 18 goals in 20 periods of hockey, but eight of them were scored in the first three! 10 goals in 7 periods of hockey is downright anemic. That's a 0.59 goals-per-period average! A quick look shows nobody else even close with 6 of the 8 series averaging more than 1.5 goals-per-period and NO other series averaging less than 1. Crazy!

Because they put CBC's worst play by play guy on the series?  Ugh.

FYI, from espn.com's game report, the reason for the Hasek penalty, straight from Hasek:

"He bumped into me and the ref didn't call it," Hasek complained. "I pretended like I was going to slash him. I never did anything to him, but the referee told me that was enough."

Well, it's hit or miss with the CBC guys.

Jim Hughson is FANTASTIC.  I could listen to him calling paint dry.  By far my favorite hockey play by play guy.

Drew Remenda (sp?), the color guy for Detroit/Calgary, is pretty good when paired with Hughson.  With Wittman, who doesn't get excited and is really bland and lousy, he gets dragged down.

At least I haven't heard Bob Cole yet this playoffs.  He's getting old and is quickly sliding downhill.

Even though he's the Devs guy Doc Emerick is my favorite.

I do like Hughson and Lang in Pittsburgh.

Hate Dale Arnold (whining) Mishkin (goal call is WAAAAAAAAY over the top), and the guys in Buffalo and Washington (always squealing).

That's funny cause I can't stand Emerick. He sounds like he has a clothespin permanently fastened on his nose. And the fact that he likes to mention the former team(s) of every player on the ice, even if they played for them fifteen years ago.

Oh really?  While it wouldn't surprise me (after all, the Flames are garbage on the road), if the Flames can stem the bleeding 5-on-5, their power play might let them steal this game.  If so, series over.

See, and that's how I know you're insane. Fred and Derek were the best announcers ever, second to perhaps Sean McDonough (a personal favorite). I'm no fan of Dale Arnold, and I like Brick, but I'd die to have F&D back, they ruled.

Red Wings destroy the FUCKING CHEATING STUPID FUCK PUSSY MOTHERFUCKING team from Calgary.  I hate Detroit and once liked Calgary, but after watching these shits play this game the way they did, they are now my most hated team in existence.  What a fucking bunch of ridiculous pussy toolboxes.  I'm ashamed that a class act like Craig Conroy has to play with obvious dirty, cheating fucksticks like Phaneuf, Iginla, McLennan, Nilson, et all.  Congrats assholes, you made Todd Bertuzzi look like a good dude.

That was disgusting.

Wow. Utter and complete bullshit! Heads better fucking roll for that absolute meltdown in discipline, not just as hockey players but as human beings. At first I agreed with the announcers in saying that pulling Kiprusoff to prevent injuries was a good idea, but when McClennan hacked Frazen twice and then tried to cut him in half well after the whistle with no provocation, you could just see the machinations working. And then Iginla with the stab using the butt-end of his stick and then the cross-check from behind. Unbelievable. I sure hope he gets a suspension as well. How about the sucker punch uppercut from Langkow after Lebda checked him?

Sure Detroit was playing hard and laying on the body (31-19 in hits partway through the 3rd), but they never played dirty or with the intent to injure like McClennan and Iginla or possibly Langkow. That's not hockey. There should be at least a couple of suspensions coming out of this, and I hope Detroit absolutely steamrolls Calgary at home tomorrow. God knows they've got reason to be fired up.

I'd love to see Iginla get suspended for that bullshit.  Send a message League, I don't care if he's the star player of the home team facing elimination.  He deserves his suspension and deserves to watch his team get destroyed in its own building and sent packing.
