Since a thread hasn't been created yet, I'm guessing there ins't many here that are following the league now. I'm creating this despite the NHL being the least viewed of the hockey leagues I follow, just in case someone has the need/urge to talk hocky.

All I can say so far - I'm surprised that it was Roy and not Torts that was the 1st out of the gate with a true demonstration of assinine behavior. Can't wait to see what sort of damage Roy can wreak in arenas this year.   icon_twisted

I am a huge NHL fan, but I find discussing it on forums can be very dangerous.

So far this season I love the commitment to defense by the Penguins.  The addition of Jacques Martin to the coaching staff is already paying off big time.  It is amazing to watch the Pens actually collapse down in the defensive zone and take away rebounds.  In addition, while it is only 3 games, and it is the regular season, Fleury has looked much better so far.  He is being much more efficient in his movement.

Lastly Olli Maatta is an amazing young defenseman, the Pens have a really tough decision ahead of them.  They either need to make a trade to free up a permanent spot for him, or send him back to the London Knights due to his age.  Sadly juniors would be a wasted year for him, but he is not allowed to be assigned to the AHL.

Yep, I saw the replay of Hertl's goals. Pretty amazing stuff.

Last night here in Vancouver the Canucks faced the New Jersey Devils and their starting goalie last year - Corey Schneider. Schneider got a standing ovation. It was an excellent game with both Schneider and Luongo making some great saves.

My team has played four games.  They have lost them all.  One of which, they managed to lose in overtime.  They fired our last coach after a 6-10-1 start.  I wonder how much leeway the new guy gets.

The real question is, what would Joe Thornton do if he scored 4 goals in a game?

Awesome! The Flyers are the Flyers again! Shades of the Broadstreet Bullies of old and their Goalie is the biggest slugger of them all.  icon_twisted

Hey I'm still willing to talk here. It's just that the stellar performance of the Abbotsford Heat in the AHL -solid 1st place-  has got a good part of my Hockey viewing attention. I'm thinking the team is benefiting from the addition of Brian Burke to the Calgary Flames management. I'm sure his usual contempt for the entry draft and rookie players is rubbing off and part of the reason the Heat are icing a strong line up.

Canucks are about where I figured the be under Torts - out of a playoff spot. Oh well, at least he hasn't done any of his clown antics with the media here yet. I only got to see Schneid in the 2 games the Canucks played against the Devils. How's he doing?

Yeay!

Schneider is doing fine, but in traditional Devils play, they aren't scoring for him at all. After the terrible start they are doing much better and in a crappy division so I still have some hope for the playoff. Need a sniper.
