You trying to tell me Wings/Blues (division opponents) is NOT a rivalry game??

Caps and Pens aren't even in the same division.  It's only big because of Sid and Alex.   Roll Eyes  No Alex or no Sid and who cares??

If the Blues minus their top 3 scorers manage to beat the Red Wings tonight (I know, Datsyuk is out too), it would be a "big" win for Saint Louis.  Bigger than two teams which have all their top forwards playing each other.

But no one outside of St Louis and Detroit would care.  I know I'll be watching the Pens/Caps game tonight because it will be entertaining.  I don't give a crap about your game and it's in my conference.

Eh, I'd rather watch St. Louis/Detroit than Washington/Pittsburgh, although watching the Caps "defense" and "goaltending" can be entertaining.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case with many people. No huge names and no interest regardless of who else is there.

See!

New Coach = All Set

Actually Jacques summed up this team pretty well in the press conference after the game: "They looked like they've lost their ability to play the game. I've never seen anything like that...you don't turn that around in a couple of shifts. It takes some time, but I can see it. They need their confidence back"

The more I hear him the more I think that it might be best that he's behind the bench. Season's over, he can just evaluate and see where it goes for next year.

Great 5 on 5 brawl at the end of the Bruins/Thrashers game. Somehow Nathan Horton managed to beat Evander Kane in a fight.

Patrick Division. There is a real rivalry felt by Caps fans who knew the sport existed before the lockout.

Great game last night between the Pens and Caps.  Fluery was simply amazing, Ovechkin was as dirty as ever, and Sid...well Sid was Sid...absolutely incredible deflection and then went 1 on 4 to set up the Pens second goal.  Can't wait for The Winter Classic.

Somehow that wasn't a penalty...amazing officiating last night.

Yup those were some of the frankest comments I've heard from a NHL coach - almost sounded profound. Even if Jacques gets them to start playing his defensive trap style, it would be a big improvement over how they've been playing. Something tells me Kovi isn't going to be too happy in the new Lemaire regime.

Pretty good game between the Oil and Kings last night.  That call on Omark, which set up the first goal for the Kings, was crap.  It was the Kings players own stick hitting his team mate!

Too bad Hall couldn't put it away in the shootout.

And the Blues pulled off what has to be considered an upset beating the Red Wings 4-3 without Oshie, MacDonald or Perron.

Can't wait until the Blues actually field a completely healthy team.  At least the original 6 d-men are all back from the start of the season.

The Caps/Pens game was a heckuva game.  icon_smile

kron -

You would think Kovi/Jacques wouldn't work out, but last year when Kovi got there, Jacques was there and he was a point-a-game guy with the Devils.

No too shabby compared to the crap from this year.

Hopefully Langs is next!

Blues defense gets healthy and the Blues reel off three straight wins.

4-2 over Atlanta - who are only 2 points behind the Caps for the SE division lead
4-3 over Detroit - who is still in 1st overall in the West
and 2-0 over Nashville.  Yeah - this win doesn't impress me that much, because the Predators are missing some key forwards also.

while still without the top 3 scoring forwards.  If they can keep this up until the forwards get healthy, they are going to be very difficult to beat in the latter part of the season.

I wouldn't date one.  I simply cannot understand how anyone could be a Ducks fan, unless they were born after the early 90s and live in Orange County.

If you were born pre 90s you should already have an established team to root for.

Look, Emilio and Pacey are awesome and dreamy and all that, but that wasn't enough to get me to change allegiances.

Goldberg and Julie the Cat ruled too.

Huge win in Vancouver last night, as the Canucks trounced the Flyers 6-2. Great night for Kesler and H. Sedin who both racked up 3 points. In 1 of the weirdest aberrations of the NHL, the Canucks hadn't beaten the Flyers on home ice since 1989. Yup I listed that correctly, and to put it in perspective the last time they beat them was Trevor Linden's rookie year! That win is that much more impressive when the season the Flyers are having is taken into consideration. 1 jinx lifted - a few more to go.  slywink thumbsup

Ditto.

Devils lost to the Rags tonight.  That one had to hurt.

However I have thought of a bright side for Devil.  At least you are going to beat Toronto for dead last, therefor not giving the first overall pick to Boston.  Yay?

2010 Devils at their best!

678 Shots on net.
1 goal.

Shot going 6 feet wide in a 1-1 game.
Hits own defenseman in the arm and finds the back of the net.

Lose 2-1.
Perfect!

Who's the #1 pick next year? Larsson?

It's gonna be like when San Antonio tanked after David Robinson got hurt and they drafted Tim Duncan. 1 year rebuild.

Larsson is more of a stay at home d-man though - you've got plenty of them.  You need puck movers.  Also defensemen are far, far less likely to make the jump directly into the NHL (and be anything close to good).
