I'm surprised no one is talking about recent trades right before the trade deadline.  Receiver Roy Williams to Dallas, Shaun Alexander signed by Washington to a 1-year deal, and Gonzalez stays in Kansas City even after requesting a trade.

The information I listed above falls under the "surprise" catagory.  This, obviously, is no surprise.   icon_wink

Their star player wants out because he thinks they have no chance in the next couple of years to win a Super Bowl before he gets too old so he wants to play for a contender. That's going to make for an awkward locker room.

I don't want to pick SD over Buffalo but I am feeling compelled to.  However, it is Rich stadium and that place should be rocking.  However however, it's not winter so the cold won't impact the chargers.  However however however, parish and edwards are back.  however however however however, the chargers are just a couple of plays away from being undefeated.....however however howeer howearv the bills had two weeks to prepare.....argh!

FYI - Alexander wasn't signed on a 1 year deal.  He was signed at the vet minimum on a week to week contract, since Ladell Betts is out for up to a month with an injury.  As soon as Ladell comes back, Shaun is most likely gone.

I must have misread the news article:

Quote
Alexander, unemployed since being cut by the Seahawks in April, signed a one-year deal to back up NFL leading rusher Clinton Portis.

I'm sure you can understand my confusion.

San Francisco's line is more frustrating than you think.  Philadelphia struggled to put pressure on him, and given Washington's performance last week against a questionable St. Louis offensive line, perhaps you're a bit too optimistic about your defense.  Bulger should have been killed.

Yes, perhaps I wasn't being clear.  You're right in that it's a one year contract, but none of it is guarenteed; so it's virtually a week to week contract.  That is, they can cut him at any time without any salcap ramifications.

Huh?  Where did the Redskins get involved in this?  I said Giants.

And in any case, the defense played very well against the Rams, holding the Rams to 200 yards, and 4 field goals (a 49 yarder and a 51 yarder).

In fact, every offense we've faced to this point had the worst offensive showing by both yards and points against the Skins they've had so far, and that includes 5 of the top 9 offenses in the NFL - Giants (1), Saints (2), Cowboys (3), Cards (6), Eagles (9).

I don't know why I shouldn't think the Redskins defense is good this year?  Despite facing all of those potent offenses, the Skins defense is ranked 8th overall.

Sure, the Skins don't get much pass rush pressure on people, and sure I'd like to have a more dominant front 4...but you don't need to blitz to be a good defense.  Blitzing doesn't always work, as you well know.

What lost us the Rams game was turnovers, specifically one that was the fumble returned for the only TD the Rams scored in the entire game.  Skins won the yardage battle (368 to 200), the TOP battle, and lost the turnover battle (and the special teams battle...that was atrocious).

It's okay; I'm not too surprised at the loss, because honestly the team was due for an emotional let down after going to Dallas and Philly and beating both teams on the road, and the Rams game was the textbook trap game.  To read anything into it more than that, at this point, doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'll have to go with "it's one of those days."  I'm not even sure how the Redskins got involved.  And I am the one who typed my post.   icon_confused   I've had a two-day headache that is starting to impact my focus on even the most basic things.

I was pretty surprised at the piss-poor job that the Texans did at putting the game away.  After leading 21 - 0, they let the game come down to 28 - 21.  Pathetic.

And seriously, WTF is DeMarcus Faggins still doing as a cornerback in the NFL?  This dude gets burned at least once a game.

Put it to a vote if you want.  I've had a horrid week and getting them in at all was iffy.

In my defense, I hadn't turned on the TV and all the scores on the NFL website were 0-0.
