I know it's a stupid notion (settle down Gellar) but part of me was half jokingly was hoping the niners would have traded up for Luck I knew it would never happened, but that would have been funny, and sad at the same time.

The draft is a lot less interesting when your team is actually good.
This is a new and interesting development.

Any draft thoughts? I thought the niners pick was out of nowhere, and then I remembered Aldon Smith.

I'm just pissed that the Cowboys picked up an LSU Tiger. I hate it when they do that because I hate the Cowboys, but love the Tigers. Conflict!

I think niners needed a WR to groom, but not so sure about the type of WR they picked. He's supposed to be a deep threat type of WR, but we don't have a deep passing QB.

When will Alex Smith ever be good enough for you?!?!? When he can show that he can play consistently good games. Last year was a good start. Nothing great, but definitely better than the last 6 seasons. Helps to have a coach who knows his strengths and weaknesses. But my comment about a deep passing QB wasn't a dig at Alex or to rekindle this well played out debate, it was just based on the 49ers personnel and offensive style. Alex doesn't have a history (in the NFL) of throwing deep and accurately deep, although he's shown glimpses of it last season. It's not all of it is Alex's fault, we have WR's who drops balls, and many times the defenses are just too good. I'm just saying the strength of the WR we picked doesn't match up to the strength of our offensive style. But who knows, that can change, and I hope so too. One thing is for sure we are top heavy in WR and RB after today

For the first time in a while I'm relatively pleased with the decisions Philadelphia has made in the draft. I liked trading up for Fletcher Cox in the first round, and we've been pretty effective in the 2nd round with Mychal Kendricks and Vinny Curry. Nick Foles was somewhat of a puzzling pick, but fitting of Andy Reid, plus becoming a recent UofA alum I have to support a fellow Wildcat.
Overall Philadelphia made selections fitting of a powerhouse team, not one that struggled at 8-8 last season. Signs of things to come? I hope so.

Worked for the Cowboys in 89. Maybe it'll work here. But on the surface, it is weird.

It's a good thing the Redskins are so talented at their other positions that they could afford to use a pick on a 2nd QB.

Lol. It's a weird decision for sure, but I'm guessing they really don't want to have Beck or Grossman as a backup quarterback for 2013...

Buffalo goes CB, G, WR, LB, CB, OT, LB so far. Shoring up our 19th place passing defense, I guess.

I don't follow college football or prospects, but I do like what Green Bay has done this year. Take arguably one of the best offenses ever that has changed very little from last season and a terribad defense that stemmed mostly from an anemic pass rush and do what? Draft OLB, DE, CB, DE, S, and OLB through the first five rounds. Even better, the consensus seems to be that most of those picks were BPA or BPA equivalents that also fit need. If Nick Perry (Rd. 1 OLB) and Jerel Worthy (Rd. 2 DE) can provide even halfway decent contributions that should have a big impact on freeing up Clay Matthews and BJ Raji to make some noise.
And here's a salute to Nick Collins, whose career is most likely cut waaaay too short.

Jeff Saturday is on a 2 year deal and behind him is Evan Dietrich-Smith AKA The Guy Who Got Stomped On By Suh, a 2009 UDFA who's probably not starter material, but likely a decent backup. I guess we'll draft a long-term prospect next year.

Niners got another WR in a FA signing of Stanford's Chris Owusu. One of Luck's big targets, but unfortunately had some concussion issues in college.

Apparently the note said he shot himself in the chest to preserve his brain for research, just like Duerkson. Heartbreaking what these guys go through, and heartbreaking to think that, even if they fixed all the issues with head injury and CTE today, there's at least a decade and a half coming of ex-players who have already paid the price having to go through just this, over and over.

Exactly what I was thinking. The long-term effects of head injuries are still plagued with a lack of understanding, but depression and cognitive struggles seem to be a recurring issue. I just hope that current changes aren't "too little, too late." Unfortunately so many past players will be impacted, but hopefully ongoing advancements will better protect current and future players.

Yeah, Baltimore's sport talk radio is in an uproar.. Although, Suggs has reportedly talked to Aaron Wilson and stated it's a partial tear and that he'll be back by Oct/Nov. While his production will be missed the Raven's Mantra has always been "Next Man Up!" so I'm not worried ....too much
