ESPN just reported that Niners QB Smith has flown to Miami for a meeting with the Dolphins. Theres a lot that can be inferred from that development

Wow he got all sad panda real fast. Yeah, I'd be pissed if I was Smith, but then again, he had a contract on the table for weeks now and he wouldn't sign. But I'm sure being told by your coach and other top staff that you're our guy next year, and then secretly go out and try out Manning, is a big slap in the face. I don't think Smith will come back even if we don't get Manning, I heard he's really upset on how things played out.

especially since the 9er's would have no qualms leaving Smith high and dry. I admire a player whos loyal to an organization but it rarely seems to be a two way street.

tebow? nah smith will re-sign (*edit hehehe turns out "resign" doesnt look like what i wanted it to look like - or did i?). niners will give him a biiiiiit more than they offered so he can save a bit of face - or he can go from the nfc champ game to getting his ass kicked all over the afc east - i know money talks but still that should be an easy call

And how much practice has Tebow had as a straight up h-back? Would he be willing to do it?

As a lifelong Saints fan who now lives in the Denver area, I never paid too much attention to the Broncos, except this year just to watch Tim Tebow's antics on the field (I am a Gator Hater as an LSU fan). With Manning coming, though, things got much more interesting and I will pay close attention this year, though if the Saints and Broncos ever went head to head, I would be supporting my Saints. Still, never hurts to have a team to cheer for in the AFC, and with a Manning on board (I have lots of photos of me as a kid with my number 8 Archie Manning jersey), I have much more interest.

I could tell that he was starting to lose a step, although his hands have never faltered, and I've never seen him on the field without a giant smile on his face, but Hines Ward has decided to leave the game of football. I knew the day was coming, but when it arrives it always feels too soon.

Yeah, Hines Ward was a damn good receiver and blocker. He was the one of the few Steelers that I have ever liked. Vaya con dios, Hines.

i HATE the steelers. they are one of those teams for which i just have an unnatural and intense dislike. i think theyre overrated, overhyped, and "big ben" rapelessburger is a jerk. all that said, it was always a joy hines ward play - ill miss it

Alex has agreed to the terms. http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/2012/03/inside-the-49ers/report-49ers-and-alex-smith-close-to-finalizing-a-deal-how-close-is-close/Hopefully he can build on what he did last year. Yes he was efficient and rarely and uncharacteristically threw few interceptions. However I have to remind everyone he was given great field position, by a great defense and special teams, and even then alot of their drives ended in FG from the Red Zone rather than TD's. I hope now that he has the weapons they can improve their play in the red zone and on 3rd down situations. One things for sure... Now that he has continuity and offensive weapons, there's really no excuses anyone can make on why he had a bad 6 years. This is his defining moment..
