Wow.Despite more or less seeing something like this coming, it's still somewhat of a surprise and a bit disappointing, obviously for local fans but also for those accustomed to seeing him in blue and white. Best of luck to Peyton, wherever he may land, and here's also to hoping that his career is far from over as he is one of the most intelligent players I have ever seen play the game. Too bad Philadelphia prefers players with slightly more questionable character.

Rumor is that both Washington and Miami may be VERY interested in Manning. Next down the list I've heard references to KC and Arizona. I'd rather not see him come to the NFC East, so anywhere other than Washington works for me.

Manning in a wheelchair is still preferable to most prior decisions.

Redskins need to trade up for the QB that Indy leaves behind (please be RG3).

When you can get a highly regarded QB to lead your franchise, you do it. It's a big gamble, but the 'Skins need to make this kind of move if they want a QB of the future.

Interesting...making that kind of trade for the 2nd pick would suggest that the Redskins are not interested in Manning, and the Jets are also out of the running after signing a 3-year deal with Sanchez. The list of suitors gets a little smaller...

That many picks means they've gotta be super fucking sure. As a 49er fan, I am unhappy the Rams are effectively getting two additional top ten picks over the next two years since the Skins always suck.

Exceedingly few teams win big without a big-time QB and the 'Skins generally win just enough to be out of the running for the marquee players. For every Tom Brady you find in the sixth round, there are a hundred nobodies. Any player below RG3 has too many question marks. Nothing's for sure, but I think the Redskins were right to pull the trigger on this one.

I was reading somewhere that Peyton didn't want to play in the NFC East to compete against Eli for a playoff spot. I'm not even sure if the other NFC divisions will be a likely destination for Peyton. He might end up being a Bronco this season.

If it makes you feel any better, the draft 'experts' claim that an out year draft pick is reduced a level for each year. So you can think of it as a first, two seconds and a third.

(and if my sense of "humor" is totally off, which it probably is based on the fact that i have to explain it then i meant hrothgar was joking to make proner feel better, that next years first round pick was "really" like a 2nd round pick - but the bottom line is 0 is the number of first round picks the 'skins will get next year. what thats "really" worth will depend on how their new qb turns out, divided by (?) how good 2 or 3 years worth of first round picks were (would have been? will be?)! or can we future value that 2nd round pick as being like hiring a new grounds man?)

the ONLY reason i can think of is that bob kraft personally wants to make me look like an asshole while i bitch about the pats defense, 3 afc east championships and running

As a 49er fan, I am unhappy the Rams are effectively getting two additional top ten picks over the next two years since the Skins always suck. Skins suck because they've gotten rotten QB play. Not saying that RG3 will fix all that ails the Redskins, but proceeding the same way they've been going (cast off QBs - Grossman, Beck, old beat up veteran QBs - McNabb, Brunell) certainly hasn't worked either. It's a ton to give up. But it's not as if the Skins were getting a lot of value from their (nearly always) high first round picks anyways. What's real fun is the $40+ million the Skins have in cap room this year.... That being said, this should set the Rams to build a nice team around Bradford. Assuming he really is the franchise QB they hoped he would be...

You never know about Moss - He was fine here in NE, for the most part, and if he's motivated, still pretty good.
I'm sure if he fucks around, they can just dump him.
No big deal, nothing to lose.

Up until yesterday we would have seen if Anyone-Moss was better than Brady-Moss.
As NFL fans, I think we got cheated by not seeing the Gabbert-Moss combo.

Yep, it's a lot less now. However, Redskins and Cowboys are saying they haven't received any official notice from the league. Also it's kind of bullshit the league approved the contracts in question then, but are now saying they're impermissible contracts...

Yeah, and Manning is so healthy, and at his top of his game. He's an unknown at this point, and who knows how many hits his 4 time surgery neck can withstand those hits. Not only that he's at the end of his career, niners need to build on what they have. If Peyton wasn't such an unknown I'd say go for it. But he's damaged goods. I'd love it if we could get Flynn, but i doubt that will happen.

with all the luck rg3 manning hoopla i feel like flynn is totally flying under the radar but will be the most nfl ready qb with the least risk and best able to be a long term solution to a club whoever gets him is going to score big time (im guessing) and the neck surgery he had isnt something where someone has to worry about structural stuff going wrong - its something someone can come back from 100% and its not like say a repaired ligament or muscle tear. as long as its fused and he has good feeling he should have a career as long as he would have been able to without this - at 35 (36?) hes not getting younger but aside from rust i thiiiiiiiiiiink well see the manning from before and oh my word am i manning ball washing? i never thought id see the day
