That was a good competitive superbowl. A fun game with many swings. It came down to an almost caught Hail Mary by Gronk, but in the end the Giants win. Grats to all you Giants fans.

Maybe it's because I couldn't care less about either team, but that was an awfully dull game until the 4th quarter. As much as I dislike Eli, you have to give the guy props for pulling that one out.
So begins the long, slow, dreary march to next August.

Ditto. I also kept thinking, if the niners made it, it would have been the same style of game. The Patriots looked off. I think after Brady got sacked on his shoulder things changed for them. His throws were off since then.

I disagree. Brady looked pretty good in the 4th quarter, but his receivers dropped some crucial passes. Welker and Hernandez lost them the game.
As a Giants fan, I am thrilled we won, but I felt really bad for Robert Kraft at the end of the game. It must have been heartbreaking to come up short.
On a side note, I think that XLII was still a better game. The last drive where the Pats let us score felt anticlimatic.

them cutting to Kraft right before the coverage ended was one of the most shamefull things i've ever seen... Costas pretty much said "Hey lets cut the a picutre of a broken man.. enjoy!!" god I f'n hate him... Great game by Eli... He's now officially in my book the beat Giants QB ever.

Yeah, the only silver lining if the Pats had won would have been that Kraft would have something good come out of the past year. It's weird; as much as I hate the Pats, I like Kraft. He seems like a reasonable good hearted guy. Frankly, as happy as I am about the Giants victory, the Pats played a better game. Eli really got the victory for us, with an assist by Maningham with that catch. The Giants' play calling is astoundingly simplistic. They only want to run the ball up the miiddle the first two downs before letting Eli have a shot 3rd down when the defense knows we're going to pass. Plus, we have no secondary. Oh well, we still won, so that's all that matters tonight.

Yeah, I do like Kraft as well. What a year to go through. I hate Gilbride and hope we replace him in the offseason. It felt like we gave the keys to a Corvette to a nine year old. His play calling is a joke.

FTFY. Seriously, I enjoy a good defensive battle, but this wasn't smashmouth football, this was dink and dunk the whole game. One big play the entire game. What a yawner.

Thats an interesting take seeing as the Giants out performed the Patriots statistically at pretty much every aspect of the game. NY Pats 1st Downs 26 21 Passing 1st downs 18 15 Rushing 1st downs 7 6 Total Plays 71 62 Total Yards 396 349 Passing 282 266 Comp-Att 30-40 27-41 Yards per pass 7.1 6.5 Rushing 114 83 Rushing Attempts 28 19 Yards per rush 4.1 4.4 Red Zone 2-3 2-3 Penalties 4-24 5-28 Turnovers 0 1 The only edge the Pats had was a slight edge in yds per carry.

I meant more in the play-calling and coaching aspects. The Pats were doing reverses and double reverses and using deception; everybody and Eli's brother knew that the Giants were probably going to run it up the middle on any given play. The Pats' receivers did Brady no favors; otherwise the game would have fallen the other way.

I can see where youre coming from then. Still their simplistic game plan did two things. 1) They had no turnovers, in a game this close even one would have likely cost them the game. and 2) It won them the SuperBowl. Its funny how close this team was to blowing up around week 12 or so. Fans were screaming for the coaches heads and ready to throw the whole team under the bus. The whole organization should get t-shirts that say "How do you like me now?"
The Giants may not have powered themselves into the playoffs but they have showed that just getting in is good enough. At that point, its a whole new season and regardless of your regular season record, if you can gel for 3 or 4 games, you can win it all. Oh and of course they showed that in spite of all of the flashy offenses out there like the Packers, Saints and Lions, defense still wins when it counts. I hope the Lions remember that come draft time.

Giselle is going on the offensive on the Brady haters! “My husband can not f****ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time,” she said, according to insider.com. “I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”

She's kinda right.
They need some deep options too.
Almost of the opinion that letting Welker go for a deep threat would help. With the 2 TEs they can take care of all the 6-12 yard passes. No need for 3 guys doing that. Especially an expensive one.

There's plenty of blame to go around the Pats' side of things. Brady had no business throwing a pass deep to no one in the middle of the field that gave the Giants a safety. Without those 2 points, the Pats could have gone for a long FG to win at the end instead of being forced to score a TD. It's not anyone player's fault, it's all of theirs. Also, give credit where credit is due - the Giants just plain and simple outplayed them last night. Mario Manningham's catch down the sideline is the type of play that the Pats couldn't seem to pull off.

Oh - I'm not saying there isn't blame to go around.
-12 men on the field for the turnover -Ninkovich offsides on 3rd down -Safety -That INT (which I think is a good chance to take seeing as it was Gronk on an LB 50 yards down field. Even though he was banged up)
BUT, the Welker drop, without a doubt, was THE PLAY on the Patriots side that could have won the game for them.
Giants tried to give the game away too with stupid timeouts and scoring the TD, but if Welker made that catch, it was probably over.
But the Giants didn't make those mistakes, made all the key plays in the 4th quarter and they won.

I got the impression last season that Jaws wasn't happy in the booth. What Gruden seemed to think was playful ribbing always seemed to result in tension. It probably didn't help that they both thought they were the smartest offensive mind in the room.
