Knight Rider has already taken it in the rear with the horrible Knight Rider 2010.  Few people remember it, I don't think it got past a pilot movie.

Oh, I remember it. Ick. And that's putting it nicely.

And from the article:

Quote
Success of "Transformers" had a role in inspiring NBC Entertainment chief Ben Silverman's decision to revive "Knight." The thinking is that smallscreen f/x have advanced to the point where it'd be feasible to have a weekly series in which cars shift shapes.

It's also likely the new show will explore the idea of "evil" cars to offset the heroic talking K.I.T.T. car of the original skein, which starred David Hasselhoff. That said, skein is expected to essentially remain focused on the story of a single man fighting for justice with the help of his superadvanced car.

Why must they mess with my childhood shows like that?

that never happened.

you hear me?

never.happened.

The only evil cars they need are K.A.R.R. and Goliath.

I thought having a team of evil cars was kind of absurd, but I didn't mind Knight Rider 2010.

Why don't they just make a NEW Knight Rider, and start at the beginning?  Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing it encompass an even more science fiction theme, with not just cars but AIs in general, perhaps have them sometimes investigate activites of rogue AIs.

And for God's sake, get rid of the fake science crap, like turbo boost and hacking vaccuum cleaners with radio waves.  And the "molecular bonded shell".

Don't forget the TV Movie Knight Rider 2000 with David Hasselhoff and the series Team Knight Rider which lasted for one season.

I wonder if they will try to make the new Knight Rider kind of like what I remember of Viper with the shapeshifting car.

Oh, as far as Transformers goes, there is a new Transformers series coming to Cartoon Network (I believe early 2008) that is hand drawn animation.  The best way I can explain it is that it looks like it takes a more traditional vehicles for the Autobots, but it is drawn in an anime-inspired fashion, kind of like Teen Titans.  We'll see how that plays out.

The first stills they released looked horrible, but the style actually doesn't look that bad in motion.

The clip I saw had a sarcastic sounding Starscream talking about he was the rightful leader of the Decepticons.

Personally, I absolutely hate the art style in Teen Titans, so I really hope it doesn't go in that direction.

Err, uh...I think David Hasselhof was in the audience there.  See? Not off topic at all.

i remember knight rider 2000.  mostly, i remember seeing the hoff try to reinhabit his '80's character with little success and a new version of kitt after the interim 57 chevy.  also, i seemed to remember liking some of the music for some reason.

Well, there was KARR (voiced by the same guy as Optimus Prime) who was sentiently evil and Goliath was always depicted as evil, but more because of Garthe Knight than the truck itself.

for some reason I remember Goliath as having an AI, but I checked and he didn't.  he had the same molecularly bonded skin as K.I.T.T. and that's about it.

Dude, it's a transformer! No, wait, it is THE Transformer!

What a waste of an awesome voice in such an absolutely shitty show. That entire 'fight' sequence looked like utter tripe.

Fantastic.

I think they should have used the Olsen twins for the voice of the cars.

Joey could have been Michael Hawk err, Knight.
