And no,that's not meaning their height!!

So,I am currently watching the last ever series of Being Human, and their Werewolves are on 2 feet...now it maybe the BBC special effects budget but it looks a bit crap, even though they never show the whole thing, just a head here or an arm there....for what i think may be that very reason

Thinking back over the Wolf films i have seen,i can only think of An American Werewolf In London being on all fours

The old Universal films, like The Wolf man had Lon Chaney Jr more or less looking the same, maybe a bit more hairy  Tongue I have seen the Benicio Del Toro remake, but honestly can not remember how good or bad it looked on film, which was like the original a Wolf man on two feet
Dog Soldiers, from just a few years back was quite well done, but again had the wolves on 2 feet, some parts it looked quite corny i guess the word i am looking for.,...other parts in the film,it looked decent enough(see below)

I can't for the life of me,remember if Jack Nicholson's Wolf was on two feet or four

and right now,i bet there are hundreds of Wolf films i wanted to bring up,but can't remember any.....all that is stuck in my mind is The Monster Squad from the 80's Tongue

so,perhaps i ought to get to the question,do you prefer your Werewolves on 2 feet or 4?...do you think it makes a difference, and which way do you think look more menacing?

And which way do you think Werewolves SHOULD be??

I actually liked the way the werewolves were shown in the Underworld movies. I'm more towards the 2-feet (with the rear dog legs) version as it embodies more of the "man as beast" imagery of folklore. We identify something that is bipedal like a human, but hairy and evil and menacing as a beast. As far as locomotion though, I want them to be on all fours for pouncing, bounding, leaping, etc.

So, I guess a little of both?

I like the hybrid 2 & 4 leg variation, where they can move faster and generally prefer to use all 4 legs, but can rear up on 2 and even walk on 2 if they wish.  Kind of like Professor Lupin:

I agree, the scariest werewolves would benefit from the mobility and speed of using all 4, but could also stand up and fight using claw like hands.  I don't like the full shapeshift versions where they turn 100% into a wolf.  That's not a werewolf to me.  That's a shapeshifter.

There's no link in the picture.  Nor did I intend there to be one.  Leave me alone.  Tongue

I could not see Hep's pic at first so i copied the url and went to the page, then i could see it on here.,...but i guess it was in my cache, its a different size now,so i guess Hep fixed it

another reason why i asked this, playing Skyrim and the Companions storyline

CK,is that not a spin off from the dream sequence in American Werewolf?(not from outer space though)

Hmm,I just looked up the picture but you can't really tell if they are actual Nazi's and i can't remember if they are actually Nazi's in the dream sequence(or any evidence that they are Nazi's)

The dream sequence werewolves are absolutely Nazis, mo.  The main character is Jewish, and he was calling home to talk to his family.  There's a guilt element to the sequence, too.

I see them as both as well.

Capable of standing on two feet and use their hands to attack, and then they can drop down to all fours to run like the wolf they are (without shifting into a full on 'wolf' look).

The Skyrim werewolf shows that quite well.

I'm a fan of the hybrid.

Btw, speaking of Being Human (US Version) I've sort of lost interest with two of the regulars sort of lost what made them special.  I have 3 episodes queued, but the magic seems lost on me this season

I am in the two legs camp, regarding werewolves, though it really depends on the story and how important the animalistic nature is to the whole Jekyll/Hyde scenario vis a vis the interpretation of interpersonal weaving of the sub-id to a...wait, sorry, I got a little too far into pretentiousville there.

Interestingly, my favorite werewolf film is probably American Werewolf in London, and the wolf there is on four legs.  I think that is to help serve the moment at the end when Jenny Agutter tries to connect with the human inside, despite there seeming to be no evidence of him (until we get that moment of recognition in a close up of the eye).

OK, how come the Nazis are werewolves but Hitler has his head on a gorilla body with a robot arm?
