Need help finding an older movie

Probably a long shot as I don't know the year or any of the actors, but it's probably a late 80s or early 90s movie, involved some kind of alien invasion of earth where a woman carried around this "eye" alien in her purse.

The alien woman (who looked perfectly human) was in a relationship with a single dad and in one scene the dad's son looked through the window and saw her taking eggs out of boiling water with her bare hands.

Anyone have any idea what movie this may have been?

Apparently your Googling is better than mine! I tried typing taking boiling eggs out of water prior to posting and got a bunch of cooking advice. When I finally posted I changed a few words and apparently you got a hit (the only hit) from it.

Thanks for the find in any case.

Now to buy a copy!
