Background:
39 year old in Stamford CT, but from NY.  Married.  Have  9 and 7 yr old sons.
I wear jeans, t-shirts, flannels, etc. on weekends
Khakis with button up shirts or sweaters for work (school teacher).

I need a new hat.  I'm tired of wearing my Yankee hat and other baseball style hats.  I am tempted to try a cowboy hat, but I don't know if I could pull it off without looking like a total douche bag.

Any ideas for a good hat?  I'm fashion blind and don't give a crap about what the latest thing is.  Don't know why I'm posting here, but I figure we are all somewhat similar here.  Help is appreciated!

PS - then there is the whole eye-patch thing, but that's in another post...

Try a fedora. You might be able to pull it off.

If you do end up with a patch, I say own it and get a naval captains cap.  And a navy blazer, and a pipe.  You're a teacher, right?  I think it works.

Funny you say that...!  I'm second from the left, but my friend in orange bought us all hats like the one he is wearing.  That was at PJ20 (Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary weekend at Alpine Valley Wisconsin.  The hat is for the song "Love Boat Captain".  We didn't get the hats until the next day.

He can only sell this if he starts talking like the Sea Captain from the Simpsons.

Fine, no French 16th century hat for you.

Perhaps a Tuque instead?

I actually like this suggestion.

The fedouche hat, on the other hand, is a big no-no.  Trust me.  Fabulous
