There was a book about a group of people playing Desktop DnD game and when the Game Master thought they were ready he ported them to the game world. They woke up in the game world and destroyed some of the boxes then GM had left for them.   At least that's what I recall.

Does this ring a bell ?  Not sure how long ago I read it and I don't think it was a series of books (could be wrong).

Thanks

I know exactly the one you're talking about and have the entire series at home.

Edit:

Joel Rosenberg is the author.

The series is "The Guardians of the Flame."

The first book in the series is "The Sleeping Dragon."

After checking out the link it appears I only have the first half of the books in the series.  Mostly because it got pretty bad by that point.

Hmm, after reading all the way through your post this may not be what you are thinking of but it sure sounds like it.

Name soudns familair to me, but I don't think I ever read them. Cheesy Fantasy? Sounds like a trip to half price books is in order!

It was this moment that took the movie from being a little ho-hum to “holy shit, did that shark just eat a plane!?”

Reminds me of Mazes & Monsters which they made into a movie with an unkown Tom Hanks.

The "Guardians of the Flame" series is awesome.

Rosenberg is now a gun-rights advocate, gun trainer, and blogger, by the way.

He comments on my blog all the time, and is quite cool.

The "Guardians of the Flame" series is awesome.

I remember being sorely disappointed with "The Warrior Lives."  Did the series get better after that?
