I think it's important to remember not to judge someone for their movie likes and dislikes. It's our individuality in taste and opinions that we should be celebrating. ...except in the case of Ceekay. He's obviously got "issues".

I liked Shrek, Shrek 2, Over the Hedge and my wife said that Kung Fu Panda was really good. She and I generally have similar tastes so I'll take her word for it. I hated Madagascar and Shrek 3.

Seriously? Shrek 1, Kung Fu Panda, Flushed Away and Over The Hedge were worth watching IMHO. Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers were not, however.

One of the most unfocused, manic, unfunniest animated films of recent memory. I wouldn't say all of Dreamworks animation is bad, but that one I didn't like.

Seriously? Shrek 1, Kung Fu Panda, Flushed Away and Over The Hedge were worth watching IMHO. Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers were not, however. Shrek 1, while slightly entertaining, was fairly juvenile, Over The Hedge was awful, Shrek 2 was more of the same, which was not a good thing, and with a juggernaut like Pixar I continue to wonder why Dreamworks wastes their time. And they continue to churn out as many animated features as possible, going for quantity over quality. I have yet to find any of their animated films worth watching even the first time.

Spiderman 3. I loved the first, tolerated the second. But jesus fucking christ, the third was absolutely SHITE. I just couldn't believe it. As soon as the film ended my girlfriend and I just looked at each other and laughed.
Then I go online and find it has mostly positive reviews? Seriously? It is a PIECE OF SHIT.
...and many more I don't have time to post about. Oh, this one's flame-worthy....Pi.

i'm pretty sure even raimi's not a big fan of Spiderman 3. From all accounts, the studio made him shoehorn in venom for the teen crowd over his objections. it muddied the story to the point that it just fell apart.

Yeah, our 3d guys went to Comic-Con that year, and they said that Sam Raimi kept mentioning that he didn't want to put Venom in the movie over and over.

I was moving along fine with everyone's choices ---I don't necessarily hate them all but I can see the hate being justified--until someone mentioned Office Space. Hang a +1 die with the rest.
I lost all interest in the thread when someone posted the sheer madness of Star Wars having a place here.

Saving Private Ryan is absolute garbage. It's a formulaic movie complete with a ridiculous, manipulative ending. Thinking of the scene at the end, "Tell me I've lived a good life" makes me want to puke. I don't know why people like this movie so much, I guess they think well-crafted action scenes are more important than a decent script. Other war movies that I despise: Blackhawk Down and A Few Good Men.
Other "good" movies that I walked out of the theater include A.I. and Shakespeare in Love. Oh, Braveheart and Gladiator suck donkey balls too.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but ... wow. Braveheart, Gladiator and SPR were all 'garbage'? I consider that quite a strange assessment. Out of curiousity, what movies (some examples) do you rate highly? There's a certain personality type that tends to hate everything that falls into mainstream popularity, and I'm wondering if you might be that type.

I have a deep-rooted dislike for anything having to do with Firefly and the feature film Serenity. I think Joss Whedon is severely overrated. YES! Thank god there is at least one other sane person out there. I also hate the Shrek movies. And anime. All of it.

Bah. In my day we used to refer to it as "having higher standards," thankyouverymuch . Seriously though, I don't think that I'm elitist or contrarian. It's just that I have pet peeve against movies that sacrifice good storytelling in favor of long drawn out action sequences. With Gladiator, sure Russell Crowe acted up a storm and the cinematography was beautiful, but you really had to check your brain at the door and not think about the story too much. With SPR, take away the intense action sequences and you're pretty much left with a saccharine, Disney-fied World War II. Black Hawk Down is the worst offender of the lot. Think about it: here you have a movie that is nothing but one extended action sequence. Did you know anything more about the incident in Mogedishu after coming out of that movie? No. The movie didn't explain why we were there, what our objectives were in the raid, what the consequences for the actions were, or anything. It was nothing but mindless violence. Sure, it was violence that really occurred, but I don't really care to wallow in that much detail.
