Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse

The documentary about the making of Apocalypse Now. Might even be better than the movie itself. It was THAT good!

Rats of Nimh (WS)

I think that was called The Secret of NIMH, and funnily enough I was just thinking about this movie earlier in the week!  I haven't seen it in ages but would love to see it again.  Apparently it was released on DVD and can be had on Amazon for only 8 bucks.

They have, but the original versions they finally released are non-anamorphic transfers from the laser disc version, better than nothing, but not quite what they should be.  I think that's what he was getting at.

"Late for Dinner."  Everyone wet themselves over Mel Gibson's "Forever Young", but "Late for Dinner" beat the crap out of it.  Unfortunately no one saw it.

Not only is it not anamorphic, and as tiny ogre said not remastered, it's only in stereo!  So many people have widescreen TVs these days, it's just ridiculous to finally stick the unaltered trilogy on DVD and give you a transfer with 14 year old technology.

I want Fierce Creatures in widescreen.  And the now OOP DVD of Fletch is fetching $50-$120 these days?  These are some of the last discs I haven't upgraded from VHS!

On the same topic, I don't like reissues but I do commend Criterion for adding something to their animorphic reissues lately.  I just wish they had a trade-up program or something.

You missed the WS beside my original post. I OWN it with the 4:3 ratio. Yuck. (and yeah, you're right about the title).

Also, the Star Wars 4,5,6 have not been released on DVD in their original.. you know, when greedo DOESN'T shoot first?

Uh?

The complaint here is that the theatrical editions are not anamorphic (basically a straight from laserdisc transfer) and is not DD5.1

And yes, Hans shoots first.

I'm waiting for the big 30th anniversary super-deluxe box set of Star Wars next year before I buy them. Here's hoping they're actually animorphic widescreen.

For the record, Greedo never shot at all.

And as pointed out, the content on the recent release is exactly as they were originally released, even down to not having "Chapter IV/A New Hope" in the title sequence, it's just the technical quality of the release that's lacking.
