Quote from: "DarkEL"
Grosse Pointe Blank?

Dark El's got it. The best is right before that:

"I was in the Persian Gulf; I was doing this thing, anyway..."

Yep. One of my favorite movies. smile I was going to post the Poodle-popper line, but that can be taken WAY outta context.

Slim, the previous part to that quote would have made it that much easier. biggrin

it was that, or

Hi. I'm, uh, I'm a pet psychiatrist. I sell couch insurance. Mm-hmm, and I - and I test-market positive thinking. I lead a weekend men's group, we specialize in ritual killings. Yeah, you look great! God, yeah! Hi, how are you? Hi, how are you? Hi, I'm Martin Blank, you remember me? I'm not married, I don't have any kids, and I'd blow your head off if someone paid me enough.

Alright, here's one:

"What did he just say?"
"He said there's a storm coming."
"I know."

Have at it. Only clue - it's from a movie every geek on earth has seen. smile

Terminator

I'm quite certain I'm right, so I'll post up the next quote:

"What makes you think I'll agree?"

"For the same reason that a donkey with a stick behind him and a carrot in front always goes forwards and never backwards."

"...Tell me more about the carrot. "

Nope. Though, it would seem to fit in that movie.

This movie is a good deal older than that one. It was "remade" not too long ago, and co-starred a certain soon-to-be king (not a real king slywink).

EDIT - Note: The quote did not appear in the remake.

Ok, how about another hint. Ummm. Hmmm. In the movie the protagonist discovers that his wealthy wife is having an affair, he himself is not wealthy and he fears that she will leave him. So he concocts what he believes will be the perfect crime, the perfect muder.

Man - I'm completely and utterly stumped on this one.

Course it's also been a good 10 years since I've seen any hitchcock films.

What shall I do? I don't want to keep the game tied up too long. Should I wait another day and then give the answer?

Are you sure? I figured it was when Martin Landau and James Mason were talking near the end, just before Mount Rushmore.

The answer is Dial "M" for Murder.  The remake(titled: A Perfect Murder) starred Michael Douglas, Gwyneth(sp?) Paltrow, and Viggo Mortensen. I didn't care for the remake nearly as much as the original, but it was still good.

Google

"For the same reason that a donkey with a stick behind him and a carrot in front always goes forwards and never backwards."

to verify (quotation marks included.)  I'm surprised my remembrance of the quote was as close as it was (made it very easy to check it, though).

Next quote:

"You're a little absent-minded, spirit."
"No, I am a LARGE absent-minded spirit!"

Correct.

I don't know how the rules work, I asked for more specificity simply because there are quite a few versions of the "Christmas Carol"

I haven't a clue if the quote actually appears in other versions, I haven't seen any of them in so long (I watched the Muppet's version this evening... well parts of it)

WBS may have meant the Muppet's version, I don't know.

Bah, I'm terrible at this game =\

Not at all. I thought that's what it was from but I went more generic. Since it was actually from a specific version, not just the Allister Cooke version instead of the George C. Scott version, then Dark El got it. smile

Here we go:

"God isn't interested in technology. He cares nothing for the microchip or the silicon revolution. Look how he spends his time, forty-three species of parrots! Nipples for men!"
"Slugs."
"Slugs! HE created slugs! They can't hear. They can't speak. They can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic?"

Ah... post-Monty Python ... Time bandits, if I'm not mistaken? Dammit, my next quote was going to come from A Fish Called Wanda... too close to this though... how about :

Quote
Then one day she meets this John Holmes motherfucker and it's like, whoa baby, I mean this cat is like Charles Bronson in the Great Escape, he's digging tunnels. Now, she's gettin' the serious dick action and she's feeling something she ain't felt since forever. Pain. Pain. It hurts her. It shouldn't hurt her, you know her pussy should be Bubble Yum by now, but when this cat fucks her it hurts. It hurts just like it did the first time. You see the pain is reminding a fuck machine what it once was like to be a virgin. Hence, "Like a virgin."
