Browning Hi-Power folks, how similar does it feel & handle compared to a 1911?
Trigger: The 1911 pull is shorter, crisper, and has a shorter reset. If you get a hi power, make sure you have the magazine safety removed as it VASTLY improves the trigger.
Grip: 1911 grip is thinner, but I prefer the Browning - find it a little better for control as it fills my hand without being bulky.
Safety: unless you replace it with an aftermarket safety, the hi power's is small and not as easy to thumb as the 1911.
From my experience they have comparable accuracy. The hi power is more rugged in general - so many 1911s have issues out of the box comparatively speaking.
