From an email I got from Sony today:
TOPHER GRACE JOINS CAST OF SPIDER-MAN 3
Doesn't say anything about the role he will be playing though. I have zero ideas. What about you all?

The only villain role I could see Topher Grace in would be as Arcade.

Scarecrow.
[edit] Hmm, Arcade is a good guess. "MurderWorld" would rock!

Crap, I'm stumped as well. I can only guess he'll be a weak guy who has some kind of body armor like Scorpion or the Vulture, maybe? Just not Venom, please.

Scarecrow doesn't seem like a bad guess. Honestly I'm having a harder time matching his voice to a role than his appearance.

"Arguably the greatest assortment of bad-guys in comic history" Yeah, I'll argue that...Batman has the best bad-guys around. I still say Church is Scorpion Arcade is more an X-Men villain than a Spider-Man one.

I've been over Spider-Man's enemies a hundred times since this was announced and can't come up with any that make sense or really "fit".
I'll just continue being confused by the casting until the details are announced. I remember scratching my head as each of the previous cast members were announced and each of those has seemed to work out pretty well, so maybe Raimi's just better at casting actors than I would be.
That's what I'm hoping anyway.

If they hadn't already introduced Dr. Conners as a character, I'd go with The Lizard.

Thinking about it some more, I'm thinking Raimi and Co. are going to do something with the Green Goblin storyline that's been present in the last two movies. I'm going to say that Topher Grace will be the new Hobgoblin. I don't know how, either through body armor or maybe some serum Oscorp comes up with, but that's my final guess.

Build wise, he could easily play Vulture. Other than that, I'm stumped.

Vulture is supposed to be an old dude though. I guess they could change it; changes were made to Doc Oc, after all. Still, I thought Vulture's age was one of the things which made him interesting as a character.

Still, I thought Vulture's age was one of the things which made him interesting as a character. Yeah. But he's the only Topher Grace-builded character out there. Then again, Tobey Maguire buffed out enough to fill the Spidey costume well enough...
