It's true. Danny Glover stars in an upcoming movie which is an adaptation of Melville's classic Moby Dick wherein a great white dragon takes the place of the white whale. Age Of The DragonsI'm surprised and a bit disappointed that the trailer doesn't really peak my interest in the movie as I have been hoping for some time now to see a modern take on the original tale. I figured with modern film making procedures and state of the art CGI Moby Dick would make for an excellent movie. However I'm willing to give this version a chance.

Maybe "Lethal Weapon with Justin Bieber as both Murtagh AND Riggs" would go over better?

My favorite part was the very end when the title asplodes at you, just like in McGuyver.

We need a legal ban on Hollywood screenwriters using the phrases "adaptation", "re-imagining", or "based on the works of" to support their rape of great literature.

I'm working on a re-imagined adaptation of the "good" Star Wars trilogy, where every character is an Ewok, except for the leads, who are all Jar-Jars.... Well, what a lot of clever screenwriters do is take something like Moby Dick and use it as the underpinning of something very different, like in Star Trek II, where I guess Kirk is the whale. So I dunno, I guess you could just have a dragon movie where some old coot is obsessed over some dragon that destroyed his family and home or something.

You really shouldn't be talking about a Vinnie Jones movie like that. It will only anger him and you don't want Vinnie Jones angry at you. I think the movie looks great. Yes, indeed. Can't wait.

I hear Vinnie Jones hates liars more than haters, and he can sense a lie from the other side of the planet.

Ah...
So once again Danny Glover does not really act in a movie. He just whispers all of his lines. Seriously, go watch any of the Lethal Weapons and tell me how many lines he delivers without whispering? You could make a drinking game out of drinking every time Glover whispers in any movie he is in, but you will not get past the 30 minute mark of any of them.

Damn that Melville is a wordy bastard.

Crazy! About Danny, how about Silverado and Witness (Glover's 1985 films)? Did he whisper in those? I guess he does in Witness since he's being conspiratorial. I think he's a decent actor who got better material when he was seen as a Heavy (Witness, The Color Purple) than when he got shoehorned into too many mediocre action movies after the Lethal Weapon series success. Truly he needs a "Moby Dick with dragons" movie to rescue his career. I think he could use something like what The Wrestler briefly did for Mickey O'Rourke's career. I say briefly because a mostly one-note role in Iron Man 2 and a complete waste in The Expendables isn't really career rescue. Sometimes all an oscar nomination and/or win does is warp an actor's choice in scripts, and they'll do anything for a big paycheck. Well, that's for another thread...

reminds me a little of Reign of Fire but yeah i think i will give this a miss, and it wouldn't surprise me if it ended up in that 'worse movie ever' thread,or contribute to the worse movie year
and that girl looks like she has just stepped out of a Beverly Hills beauty salon(which probably isn't too far from the truth)
i am not saying knock her teeth out or anything like that, but at least stop her teeth from blinding me

I would say that Sin City did more to 'rescue' Rourke's career than The Wrestler. The Wrestler was more the peak of his comback now he back to making 'Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man 2 : Unfiltered'.
On topic: This looks like shit.
Edit to add: Oh and the girl looks like a poor man's Jessicie Biel. By poor man's I mean smaller boobs.

As much as he does in almost every other movie he has made. He's the whispering cowboy in that one.
