Everhart was given a ticket for failing to secure his camp site, said Ken Riddleberger, a region supervisor for game management with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

I killed a bear with one blow before.  But it was with a battle axe.  In a video game.

Here's why this was possible

Fearing what might happen next, Everhart, an ex-Marine, grabbed the closest thing he could find a log from their stash of firewood.

LOL, Semper... Yikes!

Bet little Logan has had a sit-down chat with Dad since then - "Son, when a bear take your cooler...."   icon_wink

Ex-Marines are usually classified as dead marines.  So that would make me a former Marine.....but one of the Marine Corps' motto is, "Once a Marine, always a Marine" so.....

Eh whatever, Semper Fi!!!

Former Marine too. When where you in?
I joined in 89 and got out a few months after desert storm. Supposed to have been infantry by they changed my MOS to Crypto based on scoring too well on those aptitude tests during the first few weeks of boot.

Hey DarkEL! I enlisted in '93 and got out in '04 after two tours in the great beach with no water.  Jesus, you were in Crypto? Smart guy. I came in open contract and landed the 0331 heavy gunner.  Got injured during my last tour and promptly fell in love with video games during rehab and the rest is history.

"The bear took the family's cooler and was heading back to the woods when the youngest son, 6-year-old Logan, hurled a shovel at it."

I think I would have let the bear eat him...
