with the original director on board.  I wonder if they'll dust off Mel for this or go with a new actor, although I'm not sure who'd I pick to fill those boots.

Suddenly, I want to throw up.  Please, for the love of god, NO.  George, do Lorenzo's Oil 2 or Happy Feet 3.

I'm not sure what the "original director" comment is about since George Miller has directed all (well mostly all) of the previous three Mad Max movies and has always controlled the franchise.  The comment implies that there was a time when someone else was involved.

At any rate, the linked article fails to mention that Miller has been trying to restart the franchise for like ten years.  At one point everyone was talking about how Heath Ledger was going to star in the new one, just to give one example. Every few years we get another "almost about to happen this time!" blurb that never amounts to anything.  So its way too early to get excited about the latest rumor.

Yeah,it may only be a few shots but it certainly has the feel right

Is this the only thread for Mad Max?,it's just that i thought we were discussing about Charlize Theron being in it and it being a prequel and Mad Mel* turning down the script etc

A lot of reboots,i get a bit pissed that the original actor isn't being the star(Escape from New York remake not having Kurt Russell for instance...no one else can be snake IMO,no matter how old Kurt Russell is),but i am not that bothered that this wont be Mel Gibson, and quite looking forward to seeing what Tom Hardy can do

This reminds me -- Warner Brothers earlier this year announced plans for a Lethal Weapon re-boot with none of the original cast (Gibson, Glover, etc.) or director (Richard Donner) involved. I predict Chris Hemsworth will be cast in it because it appears he will eventually be cast in everything.

Ironically, Danny Glover is finally, at 61, beyond the age of Murtagh in the movies. Glover was 36 in the first film, playing a character who was turning 50; and 48 at the time of LW4 in 1998.

As far as Mad Max goes, yeah there was long talk of director George Miller and Mel Gibson reuniting one last time. Mel has torpedoed his career sooooo badly with his various outbursts and scandals, that he seems pretty much persona non-grata with the studios.

I'm also convinced his chronic chain smoking resulted in his aging far beyond his 56 years. I'm sure he could still physically get in shape for an action role. But he reminds me a bit of actor William Holden, who died in 1981 at age 63, but really looked at that point more like he was in his mid 70s -- most attributed that to excessive drinking and smoking giving him a "weathered" appearance as he moved into his 50s or so, and good roles dried up for him.

Yes, he finally is too old for this shit.   icon_biggrin

As for Mad Max, I think they could do worse than Tom Hardy and as usual I hope they don't fuck it up.

Word burgers?

I had to scroll about to find out what you meant,no idea what that means either

I was looking at the Wiki page for this today
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Max:_Fury_Road

and i was wondering if a lot said on that page is still relevant(i know its wiki an all,but it has links etc)

so,is any of this still true?

In November 2011, filming was moved from Broken Hill to Namibia, after unexpected heavy rains turned the desert there into a lush landscape of wildflowers, inappropriate for the look of the movie. Gibson now has a cameo role as 'Drifter'.[15]

The plot will be set shortly after the events of Beyond Thunderdome.[12]

Quote
Miller would shoot two Mad Max films back-to-back, Mad Max: Fury Road and Mad Max: Furiosa.[14]
