Remind your mother from time to time that the spider only had 7 legs and wonder out loud where that 8th leg went to.

Too bad you had to kill it. I would have caught it and let it go outside, but then again I've always been fascinated with and had pet reptiles and arachnids.

I didn't want to kill it...the females of the house were freaking out.  I was fascinated by the size of the spider also, but you do have to take into account that that thing might have bit me.  I felt bad hitting it.  I told her to just leave it be...

It probably had eggs which got attached to your shoe and ended up falling off when you got to your bunk.  They will soon hatch and attack in the middle of the night.

It was obviously a robot.    Probably manned by the CIA.    That explains the missing leg (so they can identify it) and the lack of guts on the wall.

What are those ladies doing to deserve being spied on by a 'predator' drone?

Well in all fairness you could have gotten a glove or something to get it. I've pretty much learned which spiders bite and which ones don't around my area from first hand experience catching them. There's a spider down here that has red spikes all over it and you'd think it's give a nasty bite, but surprisingly, it's perfectly harmless.
Most spiders aren't going to go out of there way to bite humans.

The spider in the pic I have no idea about.. looks real cool though, damn I still cant believe you killed it!   icon_neutral

Again though I'm pretty biased because I'm a big fan of arachnids, reptiles, and anything that's not the "norm". Everybody has a pet dog, but how many people do you know have a pet tarantula?

Here's my cure for critters in my house that aren't the "norm"?

I've got a pet savannah monitor (just over 3 feet) "Ivan" that is my "dog", along with a pot belly pig, a praying mantis, and after reading this post I feel obligated to get a pet tarantula next pay check!
Dont have a working camera, but just to get an idea what savannahs look like:

And real soon..

So I guess I can thank ROTC for adding yet another pet to the family!  icon_biggrin

Well, it turns out the spider isn't poisonous but does leave a nice little wound when it bites.  Again, I love creepy crawlies like you do and I regret killing it, but what is done is done.  Next time I will wrestle with it biggrin

From the picture it looked like a wolf spider. They can get pretty damn big. I've seen them three inches long before.

THAT is one large spider.  Damn.

Spiders scare me to death, but I try not to kill them.  I generally try to catch and release them.  That particular one though... wow, I don't know.  Maybe if I had some sort of superpower or something.  If that beast were to get in your shirt or pants somehow - IT'S ALL OVER!!!!!!!!

Too each their own on these things.  For me I would have smashed, stomped, and anything else I could think of to kill that spawn of satan.

I don't go out looking to kill spiders but man I hate those damn things LOL.

Only thing worse is a snake.  I am scared to death of snakes.  Great story was going on a walking trail with wife and in-laws.  They said they turned around and I was gone.  They later found me in the car with the doors locked.  Asked what happen and I said saw a snake on the path.   Roll Eyes

Like I said if you love those creatures, great for you but just not for me.  If you ever hear a girl like scream just assume it is Pig that saw another snake and is running for his life  icon_eek.
