This is it fellows. The title bout we have been waiting over a year for.
As I've said repeatedly, I think Carwin is going to win this fight and become the unified champion. I hope they don't do an automatic rematch clause so that he could then go on to fight JDS or Velasquez.
That said though, if the do, I think Lesnar wins the rematch.
I think Carwin wins by TKO in the 2nd round.

I always pick against Lesnar cause he's so damn one dimensional (and a total toolbox) but his single dimension is very, very effective. That being said, if you were to build a fighter to take out a fighter like Lesnar, the blueprint would be Carwin. He's big, got good wrestling, and can absolutely knock him out.
But I still think Lesnar by G&P.

It will be a TKO or KO by either one but no way this goes to 2nd round.

Lesnar took a beating that first round. I thought it was over when he started back pedaling and covering up. I guess now we know he can take a punch. I thought the whole card was pretty good overall.

Heh, I decided to skip out on going to the bar to catch this card because there was nothing other than the main event that I had any interest in. Looks like I should've caught this one.
Lesnar is PERHAPS NOT AS ONE DIMENSIONAL AS I THOUGHT.

Good fight, Lesnar proved that he has a pretty decent chin. I thought that Lesnar would have more trouble with Carwin especially being away from the cage for almost a year (over a year?)

Very impressive win. The pundits were right about Carwin's gas tank. He should have let up and rested when he saw that the punches weren't getting through.

Watched this last night and was surprised that Lesnar made it through that first round. I thought they might even call it for a moment there. He sure has a chin!

Yeah, I mean he was getting punched by the white Mike Tyson here and not an out of shape gamer. Lesnar has a really good chin; of course look at his head... it's mostly chin.

Carwin was really building a Tyson like reputation. Bull rush the other guy in the first 30 seconds and overwhelm them. He looked clueless as to what to do when it didnt work. I'm not a huge Lesnar fan but I have to say he really toned down the WWE crap last night in the post fight interview. He actually seemed pretty humbe during most of the interviews before the match as well. Either Dana White put a stop to it or his illness changed him a bit. Maybe he just had more respect for Carwin than his other opponenets. I guess we'll see but I have a lot more respect for him now than before the fight.

Just saw a video on ESPN where Lesnar says that for a second he didn't know where he was during the first round and he wasn't sure if it was going to be stopped. I'm guessing it was that massive forearm to the face he got. That guy is one tough SOB.

First of all, I can't stand Lesnar. He's a lot of what is wrong with the sport.
I think the fight should have been stopped in the first round. Rosenthal was in the wrong, at one point he was turtled up and just taking punishment. The ref's job is to step in when there is no intelligent defense, to avoid permanent injury. I'd rather have early stoppage than have a brain damaged mixed martial artist.
That being said, as much as I like Carwin, he gassed himself, as he's completely unaccustomed to having to train for longer than 5 minutes. I hope he works his cardio, as Joe Rogan was right on - He should come back with more stamina, and become a better martial artist for it.
-With the above being said, I was impressed with the submission. It shows some growth on Lesnar's part. And he showed more humility than in the past, which shows some personal growth. He was a bit of a dick, including the mouthgard in Joe Rogan's shirt pocket, but he did tone down the WWF persona a lot, which I give him credit for doing.
If Lesnar continues his growth as a martial artist, he will take a lot of lessons from the first round, where he should have lost the fight. For his own safety, he needs to learn how to withdraw without retreating, if you catch my meaning.
Pretty impressed with the fights, this was an interesting card.

I have only seen the fight once, but lesnar was definitely intelligently defending. He had his arms up the whole time and actually kicked carwin off hiim in an attempt to create space. I. Think he did it more than once iirc. Also lesnar blocked a lot of the shotd with his forearms. A stoppage would have been the wrong thing.

A terrific show overall. While Dana White is all about promotion I agree this is one of the best UFC's they've had. Just fun fights all around. No disappointments or boring 3 round snoozfest that none care about who wins. Glad to see a guy like Bonner finally get a win. Chris Leban showed he was more than a quality replacement for Silva, and can do more than just slug it out. Lesner showed good and bad sides of him. He needs allot of work in the stand-up, can take a serious beating yet still perform, and that no one wants to let this guy get on top of them or its game over.

Shows the importance again of endurance training. Lesner is a training animal. Stamina in the heavy weight division of any fighting discipline is a huge plus going into a fight. It not only allows you to dish it out, but as we saw with Lesner, it enables you to take it.
Round one only proved to cement my opinion on Lesner having the potential to becoming someone with longevity in the sport, and iconic building status.
I like the guy.

Lesnar is fighting someone named Velasquez at UFC 121 Brock Lesnar will make his next title defense against Cain Velasquez at UFC 121.
UFC president Dana White confirmed with MMA Fighting Friday night that the heavyweight title fight will take place at the yet-to-be officially announced event, scheduled for Oct. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Lesnar, 5-1, is coming off a riveting second-round submission win over Shane Carwin at UFC 116 last weekend in Las Vegas. Prior to the win, he had been on the sidelines due to a battle with diverticulitis.
Meanwhile, Velasquez most recently knocked out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 110 in Australia this past February. The American Kickboxing Academy member is a perfect 8-0 in his MMA career.
The last UFC event to be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim was UFC 76 in September 2007, which was highlighted by Keith Jardine's upset win over Chuck Liddell.
