I am headed back to San Bernardino in exactly another week. I will remain there until may in which time I will be joining the Air Force.

Edit: I know this probabally wont get much attention, or action, but I figured I would go ahead and post this last call for anyone who may be intrested in meeting the Draz.

I can be most easily reached at [email protected]

Hey, Drazz,

If one of your way-stations in the AF training process is anywhere near western Massachusetts - I'll come and shake your hand - and buy you a liquid beverage of your choice!   Tongue

Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Good luck Draz.  Just remember to do what they ask without complaints and you'll have it infinitely better than the fools that slack off and bitch.

Did you hold out for the $40k signing bonus?

[edit]  Doh, never mind.  That's just for the Army.  And it's hard to spend that money when you get blowed the hell up.

Anyway, best of luck to you!

I lived in San Berdoo for a long time Draz.  Be safe.

As far as the Air Force goes, what AFSC did you chose?  Please tell me you didn't go in "Open - General".

Specifically Command and Control, or are we talking "I work in the command post...as a typist"?  If its C&C, and you end up in Air Combat Command, I used to work in the squadron that will train you - 819/823 RED HORSE.

My specific job is command post apprentice, http://www.airforce.com/careers/job.php?catg_id=2&sub_catg_id=3&af_job_id=294

Im going to try like hell to get it changed though. Im no good with memorizing stuff and my AF recruiter did not tell me that  Public Relations Apprentice was right up the alley of what I really wanted to do (journalism) and he did also not tell me that I could have been put on the waiting list for the job I wanted. I haven't decided if I would go all the way as leaving the DEP program yet though.

You were Red Horse Ron?!?!?  Those guys bust their ass all the time.  Probably the hardest working fools in the AF.  Good luck getting your AFSC changed Draz.  I doubt that will happen.  You signed a contract and are stuck with it to be honest.  I wouldnt ask your TI about it when you get to basic here in san antonio.  Probalby a bad idea.  Also, try to avoid being a road guard.  Trust me.  Unless you want to lose some major weight.  My ass ran so much there.

Either way.  Enjoy your time in the AF.  I enjoy my job everday and cant imagine doing anything else.  Make sure to sign up for the GI Bill even though you have to cough up 100 bucks a month for the first year.  My GI bill right now for a full time load is almost 1600 a month (thats with my guard kicker).  Good luck and maybe Ill see you when you are down here in SA running or something
