Hey, this is Ms. Knightshade. I just wanted to let you all know that Ron is home and doing ok. He's a bit out of it as you can imagine but he is doing well. When he is up to saying hi to everyone I will let him log on but it probably won't be today.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

You guys kill me. smile   Thanks for the well wishing guys.  I'm still working, I just was way too groggy to be doing anything on the PC when I got out of surgery.  Spider-Man Web of Shadows review is on its way up, I've got a Dead Space review in the pipe as well as Guitar Hero World Tour, Fallout 3, Endwar, and more.  The way I see it, it's a good time to be sick.

I feel a lot better this morning, but this is going to hurt a lot more than I thought it would.  They've got me taking Dilaudid which has some fun side effects like fear, dizziness, inability to urinate, nausea, and the like, so I'll be looking to get off that crazy train very soon.  I am enjoying the ice cream though. biggrin

So you feel like puking because you're standing so high above the toilet and are unable to aim because you're dizzy; but hey, since you can't ACTUALLY pee you're just fine anyways.

Good Job, boss.

Now take a pill that makes you thin and screws with your self-image so you think you're fat, it should also have anorexia nervosa and binge eating with a fear of puking on the docket.

One last thing ... anal leakage is not a "side effect"... it's a BACKSIDE EFFECT.

A few days in now - my throat is still really tight as the uvula is quite swollen.  Just talked to a nurse who called for a checkup and she assures me that it is normal.  The pain varies from irritation to full out strike to the throat level of pain, depending on the timing with the medicine.  I'm really run down and weak as I've not been able to eat much of anything.  I ate a yogurt, a small thing of pudding, and a half a bowl of soup broth yesterday, and that has been a pretty typical meal regimen since I got home.  I'm going to attempt eggs this morning, but I'm sure it's going to require water nearby so I don't choke to death.  I knew this was going to suck, but man...

The one thing I learned after I had surgery (and learned FUCKING QUICKLY) was that you don't want to F with the pain meds.  You take them every 6 (or whatever) hours, ON THE DOT.  Set an alarm.  Don't try to play tough guy and see if you can go longer.  TAKE THE MEDS.

Also, I second the sleeping thing.  It hurts less when you are sleeping.

Yea, Fear.  Thankfully I didn't suffer from that, that I know of!  My most common symptom lately is teeth-chattering cold followed by overheating.  It's aggravating.

My body seems to have decided to develop a sore throat in your honor.  I haven't slept in two nights because anytime I swallow the pain shocks me back to consciousness.  Fortunately alcohol seems to numb the pain for a bit.

Get well soon.  Jaime was asking how you were doing and I mentioned Laura's post and outside of your sissyman whining I figured you'd probably pull through.  But if not I call dibs on the wife.....er......I mean your stuff.   ninja

Having Laura spoon-feed you ice cream and homemade consommé while you play Fallout 3 doesn't sound quite like you're suffering all that much.   disgust

Well, my nurse said "Well, that was stupid" when I told her that I attempted to return to work yesterday.  I drove in and felt dizzy almost the entire time driving.  I got to work, worked half the day, and then realized I couldn't remember anything I'd done for the past 5 hours.  That scared me a little bit and I talked to my boss.  He agreed that it was time to go home and take the rest of the week off to recover.  I'm doing exactly that.  I don't remember driving home...Dilaudid is a powerful drug.

I hope you are home still!  As a (legal) user of Ambien, Hydrocodone, and Oxycodone, I know exactly what you mean - not the driving part, because I stay home when I need any "codone" - but the memory part, yeah.  It stinks, and is scary to boot.

I'm sorry this slipped under my radar earlier, KD (and poor, hard-working Ms. KD!) but - Get Well Soon! Please?  nod

Yea, that was really really dumb.  I've stayed inside this week like some sort of Nosferatu.  I feel a lot better and I'm done with the Dilaudid.  The plan is to head back in to work on Tuesday.  On the positive side of things, I turned out 4 reviews in 6 days.  Not a bad run.

Ow ow ow ow ow.....so I was put on FMLA to cover the time I'd be gone and I just found out that I'm not going to be paid for 5 out of the 10 days I was gone.  That is going to hurt and will certainly put a damper on the holidays for me. :/
