Saw it last night.  It's a great film.

Go see it.

Bill Condon was at the showing here in Bloomington so we got to hear a little about what his motivations were and some parallels he drew from the repression present then and how it seems to pale to the repression he sees now.

That aside, I thought all the acting was extremely well done.  John Lithgow, who I'm not a huge fan of, has a stunning scene that I'm still thinking about.  And Oliver Platt is excellent as IU president, Herman B. Wells.

It is indescribably nice to see a film about sex that is as smart as it is honest and playful.  'Gods and Monsters' was fantastic, too.  I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.

Hope you like it, Rob.

Here's the take on the film from the local paper.

Wow, that's cool you had the director at the screening.

Yeah, totally cool.  I've been able to get inside the Institute as well - once for a tour and a second time for research.  I can't describe the feeling, even if you've ever felt the slightest bit deviant or repressed.  You come out feeling lifted - liberated, normal.  Everybody fucks, and they do it crazy ways, all the time!  Fantastic stuff.
