http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/king_kong:shock: But a three hour love letter from Peter Jackson to King Kong? Not so sure about that. I will, however, say that this version of Kong the animal looks unbelievable as does 1920's New York. But a three hour beauty-and-the-beast story with a giant ape and Naomi Watts?

See I am thinking you are being sarcastic, because when I first saw the trailers I just though "my god this is going to be painfully bad". Not because I dont like peter jackson or the actors, but because the story outline just seems absurd. Anyways, is the game any good?

Another 3-hr epic from PJ? Can there be a better Christmas gift this year?

Kong is classic pulp with a giant monster twist. Can't wait! Oh, and the 360 demo for the game got me more interested than I ever was before. Had a great immersive quality to it, but I can't really speak for the gameplay yet.

I've always been impressed by Jackson's work (well before LOTR), love the rest of the cast and crew, have a real fondness for the 1933 original, and have loved just about everything I've seen coming from Jackson's version. Probably my most anticipated film for the rest of the year.

But a three hour love letter from Peter Jackson to King Kong? Not so sure about that. I can see the hesitation. His 12 hour love letter to Tolkein was nothing but suck...

Speaking as a representitive of the Ape community, I'd have to say that this movie seems to avoid the common "ape slander" that has dogged our species. We are *not* Monkeys... we EAT monkeys. We are also not particularly fond of bananas; generally Chicken Parmesan on angel-hair pasta is a stronger motivator. Curry is also a common favorite.
I'm hoping Kong is depicted with the more historically accurate "rebel without a cause" motivation; the "white chick in a white dress stole my heart" was just crap; the Kong the Ape community recognizes would have used her as a Q-Tip.

After reviewing the materials provided, the Ape Consortium is not willing to endorse this product. Although Kong could easily best dinosaurs, it sickens us that the waif-like Watts could sway the god of the jungle.
Shakira or Jolie, perhaps.

It seems ok but it also seems like another movie where there is something computer generated in every scene.
I also found the island people to be a bit too much like Orcs from LoTR. Did he just have lots of leftover costumes?

3 hour length is a huge minus to me. The story of Kong should be a fast paced adventure above all. I don't see how a 3 hour movie can be 'fast paced' but who knows, maybe?
As far as all the computer generated stuff, well I'm all for it when it fits, like in movies such as The Matrix or Star Wars. But when it comes to movies where organic things are in the forefront, it bugs me big time.
I will see this movie, but already I have an uneasy feeling about it.

Three hours? How much did they pad and drag out this thing? The original was only 100 minutes long. I could see adding another 20 minutes in the form of CGI-fighting on Monster Island, but 80 more minutes in this one? Something's wrong there.
