"Revenge of the Sith" is, quite simply, fucking awesome. This is the "Star Wars" prequel the haters have been bitching for since "Menace" came out, and if they don't cop to that when they finally see it, they're lying. http://viewaskew.com/theboard/viewtopic.php?t=32494Spoilers, so beware. I can't wait!!!!!!!

I know that KS is a comic book freak, so I assume he's a huge star wars fan...but his opinion holds no sway with me. Good to see it's at least one positive review tho...
I refuse to click that link...I must learn nothing about the movie!

I'm rather curious what Kevin Smith thought of Episode 1 when it first came out, in comparison.

Anyone know when the new animated Clone Wars chapters will start airing. They've already shown episode 21 and 22 in the UK but I have not seen anything yet here in the states .

Try, like, a month ago? They were way better than the first batch IMO. I'm sure they'll repeat 'em as the movie gets closer.

It was rumored that he did 'The Phantom Edit' when it came out but he said that he didn't.

I too refuse to read that review, but I'm glad to hear that in his eyes the movie rules all. We'll know soon enough. I've got my tickets for the midnight showing and I can't wait.

Smith was basically like, "F&ck Jar Jar. F&ck him up his stupid ass." I'm paraphrasing though.

I'm rather curious what Kevin Smith thought of Episode 1 when it first came out, in comparison. I can't find any links but I seem to recall that he wasn't exactly gaga over it. not exactly gaga, but he doesn't rip it apart either... read his initial thoughts on Phantom Menace here. Google is a wonderful thing...first link on the results if you want a more retrospective look on the entire Star Wars saga to date, Smith had a pretty good discussion about all things SW with a couple other guys (edgar wright and sean pegg) over at Empire Online in March of this year. the other two guys are the brains behind 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Spaced.' they talk about the original films, special editions, and the new films. smith is a little more candid this time around and his thoughts on the movie differ a little bit from those first impressions...but he still doesn't hate the movie. check it out here. one of my favorite quotes from that discussion... Kevin: The weird thing about putting Greedo shooting first moment in there is that it does kind of unbalance the ending, because the Death Star does not shoot first at the Millennium Falcon...He's like 'fuck this' and fires at it. And you think 'Who is Han Solo? Some guy who defends himself or a guy who takes potshots?

Thanks for the links, disarm. I had never read his initial impressions. I was referring to that link from Empire you posted as well as a few times I can recall reading him making fun of TPM (did he mention it in "An Evening With Kevin Smith"? I can't remember).

My favorite quote from that article: Kevin: Lucas was sitting there watching Matrix 2, going 'oooh boy, I'm off the hook!'

Mine: Kevin: He emasculated Han Solo. Because Han Solo was just like a superpimp who went 'FUCK IT!' And then all of a sudden they reined it back in to the point where it was like, 'oop! Defence!'

Kevin Smith on The Phantom Menace: I'm sure in about a week, it's going to become quite fashionable to bash this flick - hard. But I'd like to go on record as saying I dug it. It's a good movie with great moments. Think he'd like to have that one off the record, now? He gave The Phantom Menace 3 to 3 1/2 stars in that initial review, which makes me less hopeful about The Revenge of the Sith.

I have to admit that the first thing that crossed my mind after reading this was, "I do not want to see the pictures of this guy that Lucas surely has."

Man, great links! I think my favorite quote from Smith in that article was this one: apparently the path to the Dark Side isn't very quick. It starts with 'I hate my hair' and ends with wanting to destroy Alderaan.
