Bagged a possum last night using a wily mix of a trap and cat food. Fear my madd animal trapping skillz. Animal Control has been notified but if they don't remove said varmit today, then the trusty air rifle might have to be put to use. Damn possums are everywhere in Dallas.

Animal Control came by this morning and picked it up. The guy mouthed off to My Fair Lady saying how it was wrong to trap an animal when it gets as cold as it is now. Had I been there I would have asked him to put the thing back in the cage so I could freeze his ass overnight. Better that than having him nest in our house's insulation.
Stupid possum.

I was dissapointed that there was no snarling varmit picture. You paint such a dark, evil picture of the thing like it's a angry ball of teeth, claws, and mean. I am beginning to think it was a blind pup that got your hormones out of whack.

I'm sure she's lovely. Probably going to be pissed about being caged and forcibly evicted, though. and if this blows up in my face I'm pinning it all on you, crayolasmoker!

One night I came home from work and there was a huge possum sitting on the outside staircase and it was making a hissing noise. It scared the crap out of me since I didn't know they could get that big. Seriously, it was a spitting image of this bastard :

Well how's this crap. We had the building people out to the house yesterday and they sealed up the entrance outside, as well as repairing the torn AC unit wires the possum ate through. Last night around 3 a.m. we hear a lot of movement in the attic right above the bedroom.
Apparently that damn possum had a bunkmate. We didn't sleep the rest of the night, so to say I'm a little on the tired side is putting it mildly. My Fair Lady has her last final of the semester tomorrow so she absolutely must get some sleep tonight.
The possum trap is set and baited upstairs (did this at lunch) so hopefully when I get home in a little bit, I'll find one caged possum upstairs. I hate those damn things.

Whiteboyskim: 2 Varmits: 0 Bagged the second (and hopefully final) one tonight up in the attic. Thankfully, possums are attracted to cat food so a bunch of that plus one big-ass trap equals the second imprisoned varmit. Now he's kickin' it in his cage outside while My Fair Lady and I sleep the sleep of the victorious.

GODDAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's a third one that started crawling around upstairs last night at 3 a.m. This is just like being back in my old apartment when I lived underneath two "stompers" who were, like this possum kingdom, nocturnal. I never got a wink of sleep in all the time I lived there, but it took a month or two before I acclimated to one hour of sleep a night. I might start taking photos of our attic tonight and post them here to illustrate the nature of my battle.

Have you checked for other entrances? Perhaps from a neighbor's adjoining attic?

Have you checked for other entrances? Perhaps from a neighbor's adjoining attic? I plan to do that this afternoon when I get home. I thought about that, especially because I know they've gone between our attics before (I've watched one do so). The thing is the hole I know they were coming into was behind our air unit outside and we had that patched the other day. If they were able to get back out, they wouldn't be going nuts right over our heads every night. Not to mention I found one trying to get back out the now-sealed exit last night. This would be the possum I trapped last night which Animal Services picked up this morning. I'm going to go ballistic if there is a fourth one lurking upstairs, but this seems to be working thus far. Me Vs. The Varmitcong continues...
