I know I have no freaking clue what the hell that was all about.

I remember watching Deadwood and having trouble keeping up but at least you could pretty much follow the story line.

This one though boiled down to watching it every week for the one or two one liners that would crack me up.  Both the wife and I never once had a clue WTF was ever going on or what anything meant.

I have to say I am hitting the eject button on this one.  I guess it was just too far over my head.  thumbsdown

that may be pretty easy since they haven't agreed to a second season yet.  It's almost like the creator was getting revenge on HBO for canceling Deadwood by sucking up their money and airtime.

Yep it is officially cancelled:  http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/08/14/television.john.reut/index.html

Oh well like I said I had no clue what was going on anyway.

well frak.  Maybe the guy will let us know just what was going on now that he doesn't have to string it out.  JfC will probably be the last new series I watch on HBO- I'll just wait for anything they do to ends it's run and come out on DVD so I know if I'll be getting a complete story or not.

that sucks, I liked the show, I mean if that were to really happen, of course everyone would be confused as hell, all the characters were confused, so as a viewer you were right there with them in their confusion.

I suspect Flight of the Concords will get the axe next, I love comedies but I couldnt even sit through that show.  AT least Larry David's CYE is coming back.

Agreed.  Flight of the Conchords is the only show now that I need to watch at the actual time it is on!  I even wrote HBO today to urge them to renew it.

Bad show, the wife and I just thought it was a real step back for HBO, not up to their usual standards.

I don't know Butchie, instead.

I liked the show, even if I didn't understand all of it. Stuff like this:
Quote
The line and circle are big.
On the wall, the line and circle are huge.
On the wall, the man at the wall makes a man from the circle and line.
The man at the wall makes a word on the wall, from the circle and line.
The word on the wall is my father.
make it kinda confusing.
So what was John (and the Chemist later on) staring at throughout the show? Google maps shows that area to be a Naval Radio Station, but I've seen it referred to as a bullring or a elephant cage. Ideas?

From Ain't It Cool News:

Actually, that thing is called a Circular Disposed Antenna Array (CDAA). My husband recognized it from his time in the Navy when they first showed it several episodes ago. It was part of the Imperial Beach Naval Security Group Command, which is no longer active. It is a large circular antenna array used by the military to triangulate radio signals for radio navigation, intelligence gathering and search and rescue.

Below are some pictures and explanations of what it does. Personally, I find it extremely fascinating that the show is making use of something like this.

Cheryl

CDAA = circular diposed antenna array
Nicknames - elephant cage, wullenweber

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wullenweber

Purpose - High Frequency Direction Finding - detecting particular radio signals.

local.live.com has a great overhead view of the one in IB.

If you zoom out, you can see it is right down the street from the El Camino Motel, where the Snug Harbor scenes are shot.
