EW“For me, Val Kilmer was the best Batman,” he said. “I thought he looked great in the costume, and I thought he brought a depth to the role. I thought the relationship between Val and Nicole Kidman was very sexy.” nearer to the bottom of the page, they have a poll going for modern Batmans, its currently as this Michael Keaton-26.49% Val Kilmer-10.25% George Clooney-1.4% Christian Bale-61.86% Agree/Disagree?

I haven't really disliked any of them oddly enough. Clooney's was the most boring but that whole film was a wreck.

I actually am sometimes bothered by Bale's gravel voice. It feels very put on. I would rather the Batman voice be deep but natural and have the Wayne voice be just a bit higher in pitch. The Nolan movies are excellent, and I think Bale's a good actor, but he's not what I love about the films.
Before the new ones came out, I would have said that Schumacher was right.
And from all accounts, Kilmer was a royal pain in the ass to work with. I believe I read somewhere that Schumacher hated him. So for him to make that comment is saying something.
Honestly, comparing the Nolan films with the Burton/Schumacher ones is a little apples and oranges, but I'm not sure I disagree with him. The recent movies are clearly superior, but Kilmer nailed it pretty well.

Physically Clooney is by far the best fit, but I refuse to watch that movie so I can't say if he was any good or not. I thought Batman Forever was so bad when I saw it that I literally left the theater pissed off and there is no way I will ever watch another Schumaker movie again.

I actually liked Val Kilmer as batman, though I'm happy with Bale outside of that voice... and the character is maybe tooo much of a playboy... Bruce is one, but never seems quite that over the top in the comics.
As for Batman Forever, if you didn't like that go see Batman and Robin and you'll suddenly feel like Batman Forever is the second coming of Citizen Kane.

Batman was a different type of movies back when the first 4...5? came out, before the more dark and gritty turn they have taken now.
Val Kilmer can be a brilliant actor, like in Tombstone, which is the best role I ever saw him in, and I kinda liked him back in the day in the old batman movies, but the new movies are way better which is a bit unfair to the actors.

Check out Blood Creek sometime. It doesn't even feel like a film by ol' Joel. I was actually shocked to learn he was the director when the credits rolled. ditto. unfortunately, Val discovered that getting chocolate in his peanut butter is a great taste that goes great together a few years ago.

Hellboy 2 was awesome - The guy who plays the prince is one of my favorite actors, since I saw him the first time in Blade 2 - simply a brilliant physical actor.

(but for the life of me, I can't remember the nazis in hellboy 2. Were they just in the intro or something?)

never realized that guy was in Blade 2. it's Luke Goss, and it looks like he's been busy.

Its quite funny he used to be in the boyband duo Bros :-D Hellboy 2 was awesome - The guy who plays the prince is one of my favorite actors, since I saw him the first time in Blade 2 - simply a brilliant physical actor.

He can spin a tale like few can! I'm so sad he isn't going to do a HP Lovecraft movie after all.

I like del Toro because you can tell that he absolutely loves horror and fantasy films. You can see that love on the screen during his films.
I bought the Night Gallery season 2 box set a couple of years ago and was surprised to find commentary from del Toro on the discs. He doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk.

I will have to watch HB2 again then sometime, but i remember really not liking it much and it not being a patch on the first(which was damn near a perfect film)..oh and that damn ending was a threat if ever i saw one just to piss you all off further, especially you Raz ,I can't say i was overly keen on Blade 2 either..but that's because Stephen Dorff was so great in the first and i missed him in the second... i do however like Luke Goss(as an actor that is,not as a member of BROS) still have not got round to watching Blade 3

(IOU nooooothing! :-D ) I like the ending of Blade 2 like nothing else - it feels like a Shakespear piece to me, such brilliant acting, dialogue and physical acting by everyone.

The only downside to Blade 2 was the sometimes awful CGI. You can really tell that they were stretching the abilities of the technology as it existed at that point.
