This joke is sick but it took me a couple of minutes to stop laughing after I heard it.
What are the top three songs in Japan right now?
"Shake, Rattle and Roll" "Catch A Wave" "Meltdown"

C'mon, Huw. You can't find the humor in 10,000 dead Japs? I mean, that's some seriously funny shit, dude. (I hope you know I'm being as sarcastic as I can possibly be.)

Well, it says so right in the thread title what you're getting. If you didn't want tasteless Japan quake humor, you shouldn't have gone into the thread.
Maybe all that's needed is a little time away from the incident. I mean, think of all the Jeffrey Dahmer jokes from a few years back. They were incredibly tasteless (rimshot) then, but now they're not QUITE so bad. For my part, I love tasteless humor.

Really, you were laughing out loud for minutes at a time over this joke? I watch enough South Park, Family Guy and Robot Chicken to enjoy tasteless and politically incorrect jokes, but this wasn't even funny.

Tasteless doesn't bother me. It simply wasn't funny. Exactly. If you're going to go the tasteless route, and it least do it well. This joke was unoriginal and pedestrian, as well as being tasteless. Major fail. And since when is it PC to have respect for those killed and affected by a major tragedy? Ale

That is a Confederate BATTLE flag, flown by units going into battle.
I changed my avatar to it in honor of my great-great-great grandfather, who died fighting under it on March 13, 1865 in Virginia. So if you don't like the flag, kiss my ass.

Well, at least he died fighting for what he believed: nativism, slavery, and the violent dissolution of the United States of America. Of all your ancestors, have you chosen to honor this racist traitor because you admire his ideals the most, or does he simply represent the highpoint of your family's accomplishments? -Autistic Angel

ask yourself, if someone had posted "9/11 Humor--WARNING--IF YOU ARE POLITICALLY CORRECT, DONT READ THE THREAD" and the joke
what's the #1 film in NYC right now?
Falling Down
would you have laughed? not only is it insensitive to make light of a massive tragedy, it's not even the least bit funny. it's bad humor for 8 year olds.
now, if you wanted to ask the question, how did some people in Japan react to the quake?
I heard Hideo Kojima hid in a box. The creator of Pokemon was hit by a massive shock and fainted. Miyamoto was safe atop his mountain of money.
then you might have a thread here.
nevermind your attempt to play the "wounded party" angle by defending your avatar as some sort of family pride. you have had several posts related to the quake that are designed to incite arguments so this whole thing is just reaction to your callous indifference. accept that you came off as shallow and move on. or move along. your choice.

I was sort of under the impression that we settled the Pearl Harbor score at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. My parents were uneasy when me and the wife went to Germany in 1994. They weren't really ready to let Nazi bygones be bygones. So I can sort of understand if people who lived through a world-shattering trauma are reluctant to move on. I seriously doubt that many of the people quoted in that post are WW2 vets, though, and I'm sure that even if they weren't entirely sympathetic, my parents would not have gloated over Japan's misfortune today.

My 7th grade home room teacher was insanely proud of the fact that she could trace her lineage directly back to General Custer. She brought it up one day and was bragging about it. Eventually, after about a 2 minute silence, one of the kids raised his hand and asked, "Didn't he kill a bunch of woman and children?". She became incensed and said that was all a lie. A few seconds later, another kid piped up, "No, I'm pretty sure that's true.". ...she stopped bragging about her ancestry after that day.

I have a great deal of respect for the Japanese. They are a hard-working people who have managed to be pretty tolerant of others while still holding strong to their own traditions and values. They dont seem to be bent on world domination or out to eradicate anyone, despite what happened 65 years ago. And that could easily be blamed on a crazy-ass emperor. They could be a bit more mindful of the endangered animals they like to eat, though I bet they rebuild after this very swiftly. .

Epic thread fail. 1. You look like a douche for posting this regardless of the thread title. 2. It wasn't funny at all. 3. Your avatar celebrates a person (er, loser) who died fighting for the right to enslave other people.
