So... on the transition from circle to triangle...

Spoiler for Hiden:
Did they ever mention a name for this "new element" he created to replace the Palladium he was using? Something catchy and original like Starkonium, perhaps?  icon_smile
Spoiler for Hiden:
It's something we used to use in our DC Heroes games when we needed the rarest of rare elements: bullshitium.

Oddly enough,

Spoiler for Hiden:
Darmstadtium, formerly ununnilium, is the next element in the group after palladium and platinum, and is a man-made element only first synthesized in 1994.  Truth not far off from fiction!*

*Now that I've edited Wikipedia to list Dr Darmstadt as having flown around in a metal suit in 1994.

Out of my way, Pip Boy!

These aren't bad action figures for $9.99. Stumbled on it at a grocery store. There are probably a dozen variations but a lot of them have silly add-ons and vehicles not in the movie. This one actually lights up a bit when you press his helmet.  icon_cool

I saw a HUGE one at a CVS, much more expensive. I don't think I could make room for it on my computer desk.

btw, this is the WORST SUMMER MOVIE SEASON in the history of summer movies. I may go on strike and see no more movies until the fall. Ugh. disgust If Robin Hood wasn't doing good business overseas, it would go down as the Heaven's Gate of Russell Crowe movies, the box office was so disappointing. Even IM2 hasn't quite got the legs people thought it would, though it did fine.

No, I told him to pretend like CeeKay is behind the camera.  drool icon_biggrin

I think the little mount plate is missing a peg or something. IM has little holes underneath each foot, but with only the one peg, it's tough to get him to stand up without looking like he's doing the Funky Chicken.

I think maybe you're supposed to stick an extra peg in the other foot, and then put it in that "slot" on the mount but I saw nothing like that in the packaging.

It still bugs me I didn't get back to a Regal Cinemas to get more of those little $1 Marvel figures from their vending machines. Geek delight, but I just didn't have enough quarters on me that one time, and I haven't been back to a Regal theater since then. And since it's random, I probably would've ended up with 10 The Things... Roll Eyes

btw, I think this is the larger 8" figure I mentioned. I just don't think I can put that in front of my PC monitor. I'd have to get more creative with placement.  icon_cool

Gonna try to catch the Karate Kid movie today at a Regal Cinemas. So maybe I can still grab some of those little Marvel figurines if they still have the little vending machine for them there. I'm waiting for someone to ask, "How OLD are you?"  icon_razz I'm stocking up my quarters...

I'm not sure if the machine has Iron Man figurines, but that's my only chance of this post being on-topic...

This movie sucked.

So sick of brain dead blockbuster movies with crappy writing, poor directing and moronic plots.

i wouldn't go that far atb.  while it wasn't as strong in the plot department as IM1, it's certainly no transformers 2.

oddly enough, i will probably get it on blu ray for xmas and then have it sit on the shelf unwatched, just like the first one.

Yeah, I got this one from Netflix and while I wouldn't go so far as to say it sucked I was not really impressed.  The first one was a much better "brainless action movie", or at least that's how I remember it.

If you're going to see summer blockbusters, an IMAX on opening day is the day to do it imho - I enjoyed it in that context. I'm a fan so I picked the DVD up. Although the 2-disc has a digital copy and some interesting featurettes, it still seems a bit thin on content for my tastes.

If you want to dredge up all the "it sucks," "it rocks," "it sucks massively," "no you suck massively," discussion that goes on with every summer movie every year (pointless cause when did some blabbermouth on the Internet ever change anyone's opinion about a movie?), just review the older pages here.

I expect the third film to be better, if only because maybe it won't be forced to promote The Avengers so much. I think it was also a victim (i.e., rushed into production on a very tight schedule) of the first film's success, and if it feels half-baked at times, that's probably due to rushing it for a 2-years later release.

I got the blu ray sitting at home, got it from Amazon on release day but I've been busy watching the M*A*S*H Martinins & Medicine Complete Collection and trying to keep my DVR from filling up.  I loved it in the theater, I don't see that changing.  ATB's frustration with blockbuster movies makes it even more sweeter.

I dunno, I thought it was okay. Not as good as the first, but still pretty good. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Enjoyable overall, but they could've shortened the action sequences without losing anything. Explosions in great numbers are wearisome.

Me to wife: "So what did you think?"

Wife: "It wasn't too bad. I can see why it went straight to video, though."

Me: "..."

Wife: "I mean, you can see why it wasn't released in theaters."

Me: "Uhhhh...that was one of this year's top-grossing movies." (#6, I looked it up)

Wife: "Really. How come I never even heard about it?"

Me (changing subject): "I liked how they wove the Avengers and SHIELD into it. That was Thor's hammer in the epilogue. I think he's going to be in the next one."

Wife: "I keep telling you -- you'd really like New Mexico."

Me: "WTF?"

Wife: "That was in New Mexico."

She never just sits and watches a movie -- she's always web-surfing, answering email, getting up and walking around, processing her mail, folding laundry...something. She wasn't interested in Iron Man 2 to begin with so I doubt that she really saw much of it. But that's OK; I don't like all of her movie choices either.

I thought it was well-plotted and the main characters had good rapport. My attention drifted during the action sequences, but that's always the case. I often wander away from the TV myself during fight scenes...and superhero movies tend to have a lot of those.

I finally got to watch the blu ray version last night and I have to say it's probably the best looking transfer I've seen on blu ray.  it's also cool to be able to pause and rewind the film to catch small references that flew by on the big screen.
