My new Ipod Touch 4G is on the way and I am seeking advice on a good case and screen protector.  I know that many people say that you don't need a screen protector, but the Hori screen protector on my DS Lite has held up really well. 

Any recommendations for either?

I'm not sure if they're out for the iPod Touch, but the PowerSupport screen protectors for the iPhone are the best available.
